How do you Message to a European iPhone number?

There have been issues with the iMessage/Facetime servers since sometime yesterday afternoon. This could be related.

Go to Settings>Messages>Show Subject Field and make sure it's set to off. That one's probably not the problem but it's worth a shot.

Also, have you ever successfully sent an international text before? Is your account properly provisioned? U.S providers tend to default to restrictions on international dialing to keep people from accidentally running up huge bills.

What happens if he texts you?

Are you including the country code?

Did you check to see if that was the country code for Germany?

Yes country code for Germany is +49 or 0049, don't forget to delete the zero, so if it is 01520567xxx then it must 00491520567xxx

Ask him to send his contact adress of his phone to you (by mail), then you can add it to your contacts.

Did you try it without the dash?

What App are you using?

If he has an iPhone you can use the Message App, then you need his emailaddress he use with it.

He should have his Apple ID on his iPhone as a secondary address. Give it a shot.
