mountain lion up-to-date redeem code says 'this code has already been used'

I have a problem with the code I was sent from Apple for the up-to-date program - I received both emails - I followed the instructions, opened the pdf with the password supplied - copied the redeem code and on my first attempt to redeem the code in the mac app store I received the error message "this code has already been used. Each code may only be used once."

I definitely did not try to redeem the code previously - and I followed the above steps within minutes of receiving the emails from apple.

I did the claim through the Australian localised Apple site if this is helpful?

Any assistance very much appreciated - very annoying!

as posted elsewhere....

Via the Apple UK website I had a techie give me a call (It was immediate). The guy explained that Apple gave out consumer Mountain Lion codes early to some people (I'm guessing journalists). These codes were then sent out today to consumers- us lot.

Apple are aware of the problem and they will send out new emails with new codes to affected people. I have been told that they might come today or early tomorrow. So that could be anything from 0-16 hours!

>>ad15 said: apple are aware,, so why people keep moaning is beyond me

ad15, just because apple is aware of the problem is not my concern. What bothers me (and Im sure a lot of people) is why Apple doesnt stop issuing the codes for a few hours, fix the problem and then start issuing valid codes!!??

If you goto McDonalds and they give you bags/boxes with food missing, would you not be moaning?

To add to that, if it is happening to many customers, and McDonalds knows about the problem, would you stop moaning?

I posted in this thread earlier. I'm not that bothered that we have to wait a little while to get the new codes. I do think however, that Apple have handled this with complete arrogance. There is not an official statement ANYWHERE on the Apple website. No timeframes for being sorted out and no reassurance that it will. Customers are being left to find their code is not working, and then we don't know if Apple will automaticaly be aware we have a problem. I emailed support over 17 hrs ago, and have had no response. Some customers have spent over 40mins on support telephone lines because they dont know what is going on.

Poor show Apple.

Mistakes happen, that's not necessarily a problem. I can appreciate that Apple are launching a new product and they are a tad busy. However, I find it pretty poor that Apple are treating customers who paid $1000+ for a laptop so badly in terms of keeping us informed on when they will be getting their **** together and sending out updated codes.

Nowhere on their website can I see any mention of a problem (you'd at least expect to see it in the Up to Date page) and I've not had any email from them with a timescale or even a reply to my email to their uptodatesupport@apple.com address.

Come on guys, get your act together.

They never say officially that they messed up everything! If Apple can't handle this much user well don't release it once all around the world! I wouldn't mind to see that my country can download ML after two days not the day it releases.

It's way better than waiting for email, see it's been used, and waste such a time to see what the heck is going on! Do it based on timezone or by continent.

But they more proud to act like they couldn't handle it. (I'm a fan boy not a hater but sometimes ... )

Never mind good luck for everyone.
