Mountain Lion redemption code has already been used

Just gone through the process to get a redemption code for Mountain Lion. Successfully received the PDF that contained the code, tried to redeem it in the Mac App store and got an error saying:

"This code has already been used. Each code may only be used once."

Oh dear. Are they sending out duplicates? What should I do now?

Guys, i got the second code after replying the itune store/mac app advisor that i am requesting a $20 credit to purchase mountain lion.

This was my reply

Dear Karen,

I have not received anything back from you. I bought a new mac and have no idea why i should wait for more than 30 hours while others can buy and download the new os. i am requesting a $20 credit to my account and i shall just buy it from app store. this will save you and myself time.

Please reply with urgency.

and i got this

Thank you for getting back to us. I apologize for the inconvenience that the situation had caused you. Please reset assured that we are looking into your request as a matter of priority.

Your issue is important to me so I asked for assistance from our senior advisor. We had checked your account and is shows that your claim for a Mountain Lion Code does appear to be approved. You should have received 2 emails: one with the code, and one with the password to access the code.

If you are still unable to redeem the code, please provide the code that you are trying to enter, as well as the exact text of the error messages that you receive when trying to redeem Mountain Lion OS.

I look forward to receiving your reply. Thank you for contacting iTunes Store customer support and for giving me the opportunity to provide you the best service I can. Have a nice day!

Apparently they are trying to solve the customer that pushes them hard. i have sent at least 10 emails and fill up form and after close to 36 hours i am getting the second code and downloading to all. And good luck for all that are still waiting. I absolutely understand how you feel.

Finally got my code after 36 hrs Thanks Apple we all still love u but when we cant get our APPLE gear we all have heart ATTACKS.?????

Your post reminds me of what Tim Cook said

"What I saw was, Apple was the only technology company I knew of where if a customer got angry with the company, they would yell and yell loudly but they would continue to buy," Cook said.

"And Compaq, if people got angry at Compaq, they would just buy from Dell. And Dell, if they got angry at Dell, they would just buy from IBM. But an Apple customer was a unique breed. And there was this emotion that you just don't see in technology in general," he added.

No wonder Apple treat us like dirt, they know we can't live without them.

The most sensible thing to do if they have any pride and common sense is to simply admit they screwed up with the process and just credit all verified applicants the price of an upgrade.

That would solve all issues in less than a day. It's a win-win for all. And if one stupid idiot uses it to purchase something else well so be it. It's not that Apple has no money in the bank and it would cost a lot more to pay for all that extra support than doing it this way.

I'm still waiting for the password so I can open my bloody PDF containing the code.

I finally had a repply after a few hours from Apple Support... "Have you checked your spam folder?"

Of course, I f**^& checked it!!! I checked everywhere for it! I even checked my trouser pockets, the laundry, and my wifes knicker drawer, but nothing there either!! although... this looks rather fetching...

SOLUTION:

Hello everybody. I was just as frustrated when I got that PDF with the code that claimed it had already been used once inputted into the "Redeem" section on the Mac App Store. However, there seems to be a workaround (at least that worked for me):

If you input your code and it's rejected, nevertheless navigate to the Mountain Lion download page. Instead of the $19.99 price, it should instead state "Download." Below is a screenshot that shows Mountain Lion is currently downloading just after I followed that aforementioned process.
