Mountain Lion Not Compatible?????

Wish Ihad stayed with Snow Leopard (OSX.6.8). Since switching to Mountain Lion (OSX.8.2) I have problems with the Finder quiting or slow come up. I had a Crash I ran down to a component in Login from "Box" even now while finder doesn't crash its low to come up

It helps. We once faithful, loyal MacHeads are sending a message that we are not going to be the loyal, trusting life-long customers that we once thought we would be.

I'm not going to abandon Apple. I'd rather be pushing up daisies than have to use a PC especially with that new Windows 8 with those big baby touch buttons.

But Mountain Lion (OSX.8.x) is doggiest System I've ever used the only worse what a a version of OX 7 that would litterally permanently losse data.

Its slow booting up takes 3 minutes for the finder to open. There are Many file in the User Library that you should be able to move at will. Yet you have to hold down control key and move to Trash and then autenticate the move Then to move it out trash you have to do the same thing. Previously the same files I could just drag to desktop. It’s a PIA.

I too have a 08 MacBook. I got it to have better comms with my wife while in Iraq. When I got home we picked up a new iMac and Since i've been out of the Army have purchased many more Apple approved devices. I am the first one to want to complain about something when it comes to "big brother" scewing "little brother." But I am not surprised that to update my comp I have to purchase a new device that is almost 5 years old. We all know that buying a new computer is like a new car, not in the sense that when it leaves the lot it's value drops. But in the sense I know they both will be old news a year later. Do you get mad when a new car comes out a year later? Then why would you get mad about this. I am not sidding with any one here just stating my opinion. I mean it's not like you still don't have an awesome mechine. We all know we wouldn't take a Mac of a windows comp any day of the week. Any way just my thoughts on the whole thing. Although it would be nice to be able to download mountain lion.

I have the same system and I think it's not fair that I can't update my system. With a computer works perfectly, does not make sense to get a new one. You force me to do it? Why? A perfect company like apple, can not figure out why? Please give me an Answer...

You wanted an answer? To quote the late, great George Burns: "First, get people to trust you. If you can get away with that, you can get away with anything".

It's regrettable that Apple has taken that approach, especially since for all its faults the MacOS, and Apple computers, are so much better than anything else that's on offer.

Other than squeezing as much money out of people as possible, there was no need not to make the OS backwards-compatible. I don't really believe the fanbois who think there was a technical reason for doing it.

I hope and expect that this year, next year maybe, Apple will abandon that self-defeating policy. Apple stock is already falling and will continue to fall. The magazine pundits are beginning to ask where Apple is going. That's the question nobody can answer.

It's not lImited to Apple every company does it. MS, HP Gateway, Dell, Acer. You name it all do the same. And its not just limited to Computers and Software, TV's Stereo, Radio, Video platback or record equipment. You name it. If its 2 years and 1 day old your supposed to open you back door and fling it out down the trees behind your house. And go get another whether you can afford it it. Apple is just following other companies lead in relation to this subject.

I have a MacBook Pro 3,1 and ML ran like sh*t on it. Ran like a 25-year-old powerbook with 14mb of RAM and system 9.

I have a MacSales SSD in this computer, and it's dimed at 4gb of RAM. I couldn't take it, I reverted to Snow Leopard and all of a sudden, it got lightning fast again.

I'm going to be acquiring a Mac Pro and after a phone call to Apple sales support, whatever one I buy (will not be new), it will run Snow Leopard. I'm not going to be a slave to the latest and greatest, hardware or software. As long as there is forward compatibility of the applications I run, everything from Office to Pro Tools, I don't really care. Blow yer brains out, keep making stupid hardware and software decisions.

In 20/20 hindsight, Jobs, the board, and thus, Apple screwed the pooch with Tim Cook. I don't know enough about the remaining executives at Apple to have an opinion of the structure or individual execs, but Cook is an operations guy, and they need a yogi type like Jobs, a visionary, to lead the company. No one is thrilled by Cook's presentations at product launches and he doesn't communicate the almost child-like wonder at his own products Jobs did.

The model identifier, also known as Machine ID, can be found in Apple menu -> About This Mac -> System Information or More info. The following Macs with 10.6.8 or later, 2GB of RAM, and 8 GB of hard space (presumably an additional 15% of free hard disk space will be beneficial as has always arbitrarily been found in the past) are able to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.8:

iMac 7,1 and later

MacBook 5,1 and later

MacBook Pro 3,1 and later

MacBook Air 2,1 and later

Mac Mini 3,1 and later.

Mac Pro 1,x to 2,x not officially supported solution, 3,1 and later (officialy supported)

It may be a 3,1 can run ML, but it's VERY slow. I went back to SL.

It's obvious that apple politics gets worse every year.

Im pretty upset with this because i'm using this systems since 2000 year.

Now I've upgraded my macbook from 10.8 to 10.10 and i'm surprised that apple could push that crap to the public.

Now i cant get back to 10.8 coz same problem u have guys. Thing is this macbook was originally loaded with 10.8.

I've tried to install from my old restore discs but when its connects to a apple server its says item is temporarily unavailable ,

well it will by probably back but with the back door as well.

Only chance to get it back i think is to put disk image on machine hdd.

WELL DONE APPLE. JUST CONTINUE THINGS U DO AND EVEN THE BIGGEST FANS WILL LEAVE YOU AND AT THE END OF A DAY YOU WILL FINISH SELLING THOSE PHONES.
