Notes wont sync between Iphone and Mac on Mountain Lion

I am not sure how to get my notes to sync between my iphone and mac on Mountain Lion. Reminds works fine but when i went to look at notes I noticed that on my iphone under iCloud i didn't have notes turned on. So when i turned it on it said something about needing to create a @me address so i created one but now my notes are synched. Am I missing something?

This is really odd. The notes do sync without any problem between my iPhone and iPad through the Mac (no iCloud involved), they were shown in Mail under MacOSX 10.6/7 as well. But neither Mail nor the new Notes applications under Mountain Lion do show the notes anymore. Which means the notes are still stored somewhere on the Mac, but they can not be accessed on the Mac anymore.

same here! had two e-mail-accounts with notes, accounts are set up in the new notes app, butt all notes are missing. i tried to disable and re-enable nites in the accounts system preferences without luck - actually i can't disable notes in the system preferences pane: when i click on the checkmark it disappears and immediately reappears.... IS THIS A BUG?

so the notes are still there on my ipad and iphone - but not in the new notes app in 10.8 although the accounts are setup and the notes app is showing them...

in 10.6/10.7 it all worked flawlessly... apple has always messed it up... reminds me of the mobileme launch... therefore i didn't want my notes on icloud but just on my email-accounts.... and now it's messed up again!

HELP!

I also have the exact same problem. Notes worked fine syncing with Lion via an IMAP account I have. I synced between multiple macs, my iphone, and my ipad. I upgraded my first machine to Mountain Lion and no Notes show. In addition, when I try to do thing like "Add Folder" to the IMAP section in notes, the folder doesn't get added and I get a new section under "On My Mac" called "Recovered Items" and the folder I tried to create goes there.

Yay, so fun paying for the privelage of being their beta tester.

Poking around a discovered a few things. For one I don't even have a Notes.mdimporter on my file system that is referenced in the syslog. So maybe my install had an issue or that importer wasn't included as part of the installer. Another possibility may be that I have a corrupt FLPlugin.mdimporter as that message appears everytime I open Notes. So again, maybe that file is corrupt on the installer, or something during my install may have corrupted it. Though a corruption specific to my install seems unlikely since others are getting the exact same sorts of behaviors in Notes in the same way I am (try to uncheck Notes but it instantly rechecks itself in System Preferences under a Mail account).

If anyone with this issue is comfortable in Terminal, start it up, then open Notes, then in Terminal type "tail -50 /var/log/system.log" and see if you have similar error messages. I'd love to know if that helps track the problem.

i also experienced this behavior, but after another restart, the check/uncheck issue was gone and it behaved as expected. still so, notes don't show up in the notes app. if a mere restart doesn't fix the checkmark behavior, try a safe boot, and then another restart. this has also fixed somme speed issues of the system, as at first launch 10.8. was kond of slooow...

I still have my problem of having notes "stuck" on my phone and not visible on my Mac.

I see a categorization for iCloud and got Google (the latter is because I have Google notes enabled on my Mac, note: not on my phone). But I do not see a categorization for "On my Mac" (which is what I had in OS X 10.7 (Lion) wihin Mail.app).

I am considering for the first time jailbreaking my phone just so that I can extract these Notes from my iPhone through unofficial means (like copying the actual Notes database out of the iPhone via ssh). I hope to then restore my phone to factory and get rid of the jailbreak. That is, unless an actual solution is presented in the form of an Apple Knowledge Base article.

So I added like 5 iCloud notes on my phone and when I awoke my laptop everything synced to notes on there. Even the other email account notes from before. Guess it needed a difibrilator shock!

Because this thread is derailing a bit into several different problems, I've added a summary of my problem in a new thread that is specific to my particular problem:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4140348?tstart=0

I have no issues synching iCloud notes or even Google notes (which I use on an iPad), which is what some people are having trouble with. It's the notes in my iPhone categorized as "On my iPhone" that aren't available in Mail.app anymore, and the new Notes.app doesn't present the notes, either.

I'm trying to use dreamhost IMAP instead of iCloud, but essentially my Notes screen looks exactly the same as yours. You should try clicking the + button next to iCloud and see if you're able to create a folder. I can't and it just instantly throwing the folder into a "Recoverd Items" category under "On My Mac"

As to getting your Notes off the phone. You shouldn't have to jailbreak. Previously iTunes let you sync Notes from the iPhone to the desktop. The Notes that iTunes syncs shows up as "On My Mac" notes on your computer. I used to do this all the time before I got the IMAP syncing to work.

That is until Mountain Lion now broke it.

That's the problem. Mountain Lion isn't showing me my "On my Mac" notes in Notes.app. And I think that's the bug.

For my IMAP provider, Fastmail, I had to set the prefix to INBOX, the port to 992, and check the SSL box. Then it worked.

For Dreamhost my prefix is also INBOX, and the port is 143 with check in SSL box. However, it just doesn't work under Mountain Lion. It even prompts me to approve the certificate for my provider when I login. However, it doesn't actually sync the Notes. So it appears like it's trying, it's just failing.
