You guys have way too much time on your hands....do you guys even know each other?
Mart30lon, lets review the facts:
You started this thread about a problem with a 2010 mac pro and how mountain lion didnt support ethernet drivers for your machine.
Less than a month later Apple rectified the probelm, but due to ADD or for whatever reason, you decided Apple is no good for "Pro" (and i use the term loosely) users like yourself and you switched to windows.
The only question left on anyones minds still reading this worthless thread (and honestly, the mods should have closed it 2 pages ago when someone stated the problem is solved with the 8.2 update) is why are you still here posting?
We get the fact the top London production houses are switching to windows becuase apple no longer cares about the pro segment and how big of a factor you were in getting them to swtich. Im sure Apples board of directors are holding a special meeting about that as I type this. Your talent is wasted with graphics design, you should seriously consider working for Microsoft to help them get back that market share they keep losing to Apple.
For the rest of us, it seems the problem with teaming with the mac pro's has been resolved with the 10.8.2 update and the lack of posting in this thread seems to indicate that there is no longer any problems.
Now go enjoy your windows machine and leave us non-pro users to ourselves. kk, thx! bye!
Then why have you bothered replying in the first place you sad little man?
I actually told everone how to fix the issues as I already mentioned... A month ago... Thats the point of this forum... To help each other out...
Nothing the you added was true or useful to anyone... You are a weird little Apple true believer who can't accept or undertsand any critisism or other peoples points of view. Also known as a tyrant...
Let's review your genius...
Redgiant make a compositor and Motion is a pro tool... baaa haaa
iSCSi is the network choice of everyone now.... Haaaaa
You have installed a iSCSi network for a timber yard who probably at best use 10mbs connections... Probably costing them 1000s of dollars... Wow... You are a brilliant engineer....
You know how to read wikipedia... Clever boy...
Apple are releasing a new mac pro first quarter of 2013.... Wrong....
I updated my entire network to Mountain Lion on day one.... Wrong again... Please show me where that was mentioned?
Your a second rate security camera installer who for some reason likes to attack any critisism of a company he has no links to or doesn't work for... Hey you got one right!
You used ios maps yet? How's that working out for you?
So please do us all a favour and leave...
The only reason any of us posted of here is because we are dissapointed with the fact Apple are now mediocre just like Microsoft...
I have never had network issues with macs before, never had any connection problems at all... Then slowly over the last couple of years they have taken their eye off the ball.
Now we get things like all these issues mentioned... the ios 6 maps app, it's a complete disaster... 3 years ago Apple wouldn't have settled for second best on any level...
I'm just sad that they have decided anything other than perfection is good enough...
Yes I will now have to get used to being a Windows user being constantly annoyed with stupid code and a system that is frankly dumb... But thats the way it is...
..hey guys just to keep this thread focused...my Ethernet worked for approximately 36 hours...with no problem...and now it is back to "cable unplugged" - so it was possibly premature that I stated that 10.8.2 fixed it as we are back to square one. The WiFi works perfectly though.....
I don't think that it is a coincidence that it worked for that amount of time immediately after the update.....
I tried installing that SMBup program, installed it with all its components that it then downloaded and I still have the same problem... Can you give me a step by step on what I have to do to allow my Ethernet to work on my iMac 27" mid 2011.....thanks......😊 is there something I have to do after it installs...
Hey Bill,
Yep same here, it has just disconnected again... I have gone back to using the USB 2 adaptor and that works perfectly. My thunderbolt to ethernet adaptor works perfectly also. I would try either of these options... Both are available from Amazon.
The smbup is to repair another issue not the ethernet disconnections. It's for windows/linux machines which can't connect to mac servers.
Sorry about the digression from the thread... But I don't like being bullied and talked down to.... And I especially don't like liars...
You know what they say Mart30lon, as soon as you resort to name calling you have lost the argument.
Your trying to help people here? Really? All i see is apple bashing with nothing helpful, but either way I could care less. Im moving on now, im sure if you hang out in this thread long enough everyone will see how awesome you as well as underpaid, and from the fact you took the time to write 2 posts to reply to me shows that you are really worked up about your ego. Dont be mad bro!, im sure you still have some friends left that will sit at the pub and listen to your intellectual masterbation.
Bill,
This might be something you have already tried, and are simple solutions, but are your ethernet settings all on auto and if so, have you tried to set the flow control, speed and duplex manually?
Wow.... Boring.... Your really are quite odd! How do you know how much I earn? Freak...
Read the whole thread... We have been through all the usual fixes and steps... It's simple bad implementation of the drivers and Ethernet protocol. I know it's hard to accept but they have made a mistake...
Ok, so I went in to the Hardware settings of the Ethernet and changed the settings to 10basrT/UTP, full-duplex and the ethernet instantly went on to show as "connected" after I pressed apply. Thanks, and I hope this stays connected.
Should you have noticed anything in these connection settings that are wrong please advise, as I am relatively not knowledgeable when it comes to these kinds of specific settings. Thanks "What2be1"!
There is a simple cheap fix until they manage to repair it, USB 2 to Ethernet adaptor.... $20
@mart30lon I'll look in to it if it stops working. At the moment the solution that "What2be1" offered as follows:
"have you tried to set the flow control, speed and duplex manually?"
is currently working.....
thanks everyone....
PS i have one of those from Ebay China that worked on a PC perfectly but didnt work on my iMac. I had already tried that.....
thanks anyway guys for all your input....I'll let you know if it lasts......
I have already switched flow control and it keeps stable for a few hours then pops again...
I'm now getting this since updating.... "A networking error occured while trying to communicate with the server"
Good luck man, I'm onto trying the thunderbolt to ethernet connection now... Finger crossed!
Really?????? ***!!! and I got my hopes up.....I'll post it when mine goes off.....
Well then its obviously a software issue that Apple can fix that for some reason have neglected.....
everything worked fine and dandy in 10.7......
So, the verdict - the ethernet stopped yet again. Like you said @mart30lon, this worked for a couple of hours and then stopped. I tried fiddling with the settings and restarting the computer in between and fiddling again, and nothing worked. The whole point is we shoudn't have to be going through things like this just to get something as basic as an ethernet working - that previously worked. They are forcing us to use WiFi ! Why would they do that? You know the conspiracy theorists out there would have a field day with that one.... hahahaha
Anyway, let me know if anything else works...like the thunderbolt adaptor.....also I'm calling Apple.....
