Multiple Displays Problem - 3rd display shows pointer arrow only

I have a Mac Pro with two Nvidia GeForce GT120 video cards driving three displays. After the upgrade to OS X 10.8, the third display is recognized by the system, but does not show the desktop or any windows... only the pointer arrow is displayed - but the arrow is displayed properly, is mapped properly across all three display spaces, and the system still allows windows to be open (but invisible) on the 3rd display. Is this a general bug or perhaps unique to my configuration?

I downloaded, installed and restarted and this driver DID NOT solve any problems, rather when I restatrted, the rotated screens showed as black but the mouse pointer showed. I had to swap the cables (again) to get this to work again.

Mountain Lion is by far the buggiest version of Mac OS X since 10.3 and for what? Nothing really new as far as I am concerned - full screen apps - big deal, not much good if I have to slant my head and/or crawl about swapping cables for 30 mins before I can get the machine to work again after a reboot!

Really poor Apple, 0 out of 10.

I'm really not going to go out and buy the latest card to run with an old Mac Pro! Besides which I haven't noticed any "frame drop" for what I am doing and was perfectly happy with the system before the 10.7/10.8 "upgrades". Besides which even if I were to buy a new card and it worked in my system, I'd want to use the other two cards to add more monitors and that wouldn't work either, would it?

It's amusing (in an ironic way) that you mention Windows, since, these two updates seem to be aimed at making Mac OS X more like Windows. Well they have succeeded in more ways than one! Not only do we now have full screen we also have buggy software! Well done!

What you are saying is ludicrous! I bought this Mac Pro in 2009 and it was perfectly fine for what I use it for up until this so called "upgrade". To fix it you are suggesting that I spend an additional $2500+ and then what? I'd have to upgrade all my other hardware/RAM (16 GB) too and probably have to buy a whole lot more to boot (like the graphics card) and I'd be left with a perfect good Mac Pro that I could use as an expensive door stop?

And why? Because someone at Apple thought it was a really "cool" idea to turn a Mac into an iPad! But, ironically, you can rotate an iPad!

Right now I'm scared to restatrt this machine because each time I do so, I have to swap the cables abouts, how can this be the world's most advanced desktop Operating System?

Sorry hit reply too soon in my last post, what I meant to say is, I'm wondering whether if I disconnect the rotated displays (or even better just turn them off) before I Restart and then connect (or Power them on) once the system has booted into the Finder and see if this will stop the need to keep swapping the cables around.

It seems like the bug is on Start Up and I will check this out tonight once I can restart the machine in question and have time to fiddle with it.

I have two Apple brand displays and two Apple installed NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 cards. Hot-swap your video cables: this always fixes things until you reboot. If you're lucky, both displays will work once or twice after (complete shutdown and reboot cycles), then you you have to hot-swap again. I did officially report this to Apple Bug Reporting, they gathered more info from me but that is about it. I even tried running both displays off of one video card with a mini-display to dvi adapter as well, no luck, same results.

The suggestion of buying new hardware to address this brand new SOFTWARE BUG is obviously from a whiney fan-boy, not a thinker.
