Activity window

I share the same opinion. Not only that but the Search Box is gone and so is the

Shift-Command-i

I'm not opposed to upgrades but not at the expense of our tools.

What's happening Apple?

Removing the Activity window means LESS functionality for users. What is the point? What does Apple gain in omitting this feature?

Seems that Steve Jobs is gone not only in body but also in spirit.

PLEASE, Apple, return the Activity Window to Safari.

And the shift+Enter key to add the .com in the address bar is also gone, now it open the query in a new window... That's what cmd+Enter would do if my memory is correct....

I'm kind of happy with Lion, but Safari 6 is more of a downgrade than an upgrade in my opinion.....

Develop Mode > Show Web Inspector (Alt +  + I) and then open in a separate window.

The Web Inspector is NOT the same thing as the Activity Viewer. We want to know where the Activity Viewer is.

I agree with antrozous.....the loss of the activity viewer and not being able to use it to download streaming video makes Safari 6 a downgrade. Back to using Real Player and Chrome.

At a minimum Apple should describe whats been added or deleted from a new vesrsion so the user can decide if he wants to download the "upgrade". If I would have know I had to give one or more of the tools or functions I like to use II wouldn't have done it.

Good point. I would have not upgraded if I had known they were going to take away the Activity Window.

Also, it seems like they also removed the option that allowed us to send a feedback.

As far as I can remember, through the top menu, we could post a feedback on any of the Apple apps. This is no longer there for Safari (but still there for iTunes for instance...)

Lion Safari 6.0 update...

This was a shocker....

Not only is the Activity Window good for downloading videos from sites, but it also comes in handy when your browser stalls, you can open the AW and see if some web request is going haywire. It also illustrates how much tracking goes on behind the scenes on those innocent looking webpages - a bit shocking...

This was a great feature that for me, made Safari stand out over Chrome or Foxfire.

Unfortunately, the Activity Window is such an important feature to me, that tonight I will have to restore my harddrive with Time Machine to a state before the upgrade. There I will have to sit until either the Activity Window returns or I find a plug-in or something that will easily replicate it's function. (Any suggestions?)

Does Apple ever do user groups for feedback on such changes, or does a programmer sit in an cubical somewhere thinking "if I don't use it, you don't need it"...

Thanks rd2110, I tried that last night, unfortunately all that is available is 5.1.7 for Windows. If you know of a link to the mac version, I'd love to get it.
