I understand the reason why my Mac book pro 2010 will not work with Mirroring. But in the near future will there be the possibility of mirroring coming to an early 2010 MacBook Pro. I feel it is too early to be replacing mine as there's nothing wrong with it.
With regards to the rest of mountain lion I'm very pleased with it, the dictation software and the interaction between all of my Apple products. Very very nice.
Just wish I could airplay mirror from my Mac.
It's not the end of the world I have found an app called Airparrot. If you install this you can airplay to your apple tv on any 2010 or previous models of MacBook.
I've discovered this app, too, but maybe it's not wroking for me. I click to open it and nothing seems to happen. Is it really running, just not showing up in the applications bar? How do I get my computer screen to show up on my AppleTV?
Makes no sense. Why is it that my older iPhone with a smaller and slower processor is able to use AirPlay and my Macbook can't? I don't need it to mirror eveything that's on my screen. I just want AirPlay to work like it does on an iPhone or iPad and be able to use it with iPhoto, iTunes and YouTube. That's all. Why can't Apple make this happen?
I just got Airparrot and it works really well on my mid 2010 mac book pro.
It's strange that something like this can't be enabled for you if you want the functionality and can endure the proformance drop. I was able to watch videos played using Quicktime, and the fans didn't kick in and the Activity Monitor didn't seem to even blink an eye.
I can only speculate that they are trying to keep the OS as clean as possible and letting 3rd party vendors stay in business...
Airparrot - great job!
They should have supported airplay feature in mid 2010 mac, i got the MBP in november 2010. If iphone and ipad can support this feature, 2.54 ghz processor can sure do. Apple please fix this.
I doubt that Apple will 'fix' the AirPlay option - there are several features that don't apply to various models: I can't use Power Nap, for example, because I have a third-party SSD and not Apple-branded flash storage.
Clinton
After tricking us , Apple that's it, i never thought I would support pirating but from now on
no more penny on your product !!!!
I don't know Frank, but keep on spamming all areas of this forum with your hissing, fitting, and rantings about Airplay mirroring - we'll try to give you some answers. Heck, you already managed to get two threads locked out so now you come on this one. Want a fresh one?
cry baby...

I can only agree with all of you, I read about the Airplay feature and was waiting to download the mountain update to get it, only to get it as it will be amazing then was suprised to know that my mid 2010 is out of date. I hate to say that I thought about it as a way of pushing us to update our hardware . Luckily I read that I am not supported so decided not to update my software as I dont know what else will not be supported. I think all we can do is to wait for apple response
Can you tell me about air parrot please?
Coz I really want to get this feature
How exactly is that spamming, replying to two posts on AirPlay? And you mean one thread, I've only replied to two. Seriously, you are a troll and you need to get a life. And I've contacted Apple about your abusive and insulting comments which abuse their terms of usage.
Big words for small people...
I like to quote Jonathan Ive, Apple company’s goal: “at Apple is not to make money.” That may sound a bit odd, but it’s the very truth. In 1992 when Apple almost had to file for bankruptcy, the main goal was to improve their products. Steve Job’s wasn’t thinking about cash, he knew they needed to improve their products to grab the attention of consumers.
“You would have thought that, when what stands between you and bankruptcy is some money, your focus would be on making some money, but that was not [Steve Jobs’] preoccupation.”
“His observation was that the products weren’t good enough and his resolve was we need to make better products. That stood in stark contrast to the previous attempts to turn the company around.”
I really hope people think, and don't just repeats pretty nice word. I am an apple fun but not stupid. there are limits how much can be take. this is outrages to hostage some of your really; loyal customer because they bought their Mac one or two years ago!!!! Why???
Why don't we read history, why don't you see what happened to windows. If people lose their trust, they will drop you, like they drop Windows. And doesn't matter how much mony you have, it doesn't matter what you do after to make it up, just like Nokia or blackberry or other how got blinded with money...
I also bought Mountain Lion specifically for the AirPlay mirror feature on my 2010 MBP. Very dissapointed
Got to add my name to the list hoping Apple will hear. Just bought an Apple TV to mirror my 2010 MBP, and found it doesn't work. Certainly am not going to buy a new MBP when what I have is just fine, except for this one feature. Very sad Apple.
