iLife missing after a clean install of Mountain lion..

I have a late 2011 MBP 15 inch. When i got the mac i got it with lion and it had the whole ilife bundle along with it. But after i bought mountain lion yesterday and did a clean install by creating bootable usb drive. After installation i couldnt find iLife and neither is it in my account purchases at the app store.

So I'm not entirely sure if you ever got this sorted, but I have literally had the same issue in that I restored Mountain Lion via the Cmd+R funtion when restarting and iLife was missing. I had the same kind of install - no disc etc. in the box and it was a pre-installed ML copy from Apple (early 2013).

I resolved this by signing into my apple ID on the laptop and going to the Mac App Store, where under my purchases (top tab) there was the iLife seperates ready to download.

Hope that helped...?

Hi,

I am gleaning a lot of useful info from this thread, but I am hoping someone will give me confirmation to help me through this.

I bought a used 2008 Macbook Pro recently. It had been upgraded to Lion, but ilife was gone. I have the original gray discs (the recovery and applications discs) but I am not sure what will happen to Lion if I use them.

Since the computer originally came with Snow Leopard, if I do a factory reinstall, won't it go back to Snow Leopard? Can I get back to Lion after a factory reinstall if I do a Time Machine backup while still in Lion first? If so, would that then wipe ilife back off since I woud have to do the TIme Machine backup with Lion and without ilife?
I can't go to the MAS because I didn't own the computer when the Lion upgrade was purchased.... I know I can just fork out the $ and upgrade to ML, but I don't want to waste the money and RAM if I don't have to.

Can I just reinstall ilife from the Applications Disc? Would that work if I have Lion running now?

Thanks!

Karen

Here is a additional note-- I tried just putting in the Applications Disc, but apparently, the applications won't install on Lion. Going through several steps, I found how to select the components separately, but they say they must be installed in OS 10.4.7

SO I guess my only option is to fully reinstall the factory settings, then the applications, then try to upgrade to the Lion using the Time Machine backup? Or else just pay to upgrade to Mountain Lion instead....

Just a note, I purchased my 17" MBP in 2011 and at that time I had to email my invoice as proof of purcase and got coupon codes to enter in App Store and download iLife apps.

I didnt get any Accept screen and dont even know what it looks like.

Recently I upgraded the HDD to a SSD and put the old HDD in place of the Optical Drive. (i.e I performed a clean install from a USB)

I was also concerned that when I go to App Store, I cant download iMovie and other apps.

Then I drag dropped iMovie, iPhone and GarageBand from the old HDD to the new one in Applications folder and voila the "Buy" button changed to "Update" in App store.

I had to do the same to get teh Facetime App

grrrr. i know this is an old thread but it's the only one close to giving me answers-

i wiped my HD (mid-2010) today and am now on os x mavericks. ilife was preinstalled when i purchased it so i don't have the discs. i have tried all of the above answers - none of the ilife programs are listed in my 'purchases' tab in the app store and there were no updates to be installed. i think i now may have paid the $16 to install it again in my last resort to see if it would simply update or restore or something. sorry if this sounds dumb but i can't find any information that tells me how to go about getting iphoto (and the rest of ilife for that matter) back without paying. i'm just frustrated now as i wiped the hd in order to start fresh and clear everything so that my mbp was in full running order now that i have started uni and need it to be as reliable as possible. iphoto in particular as i need a photo organization application with the amount of indesign, illustrator and photoshop work i have. if my only option is to pay for it again i'll just get a refund, i can't see the point/nor can i afford having to pay for something i already had!

Hi, I had the same problem. Once I clean install my early 2011mac book pro, there were no iLife. Also there were no iLife in my app store under purcheses.

However I have got "Applications install DVD" with my mac book pro. So I installed the DVD and I got iLife for free again. Once its installed, go to the app store and click update. Finally you will have upto date versions of iLife.
