Tabs too wide in Safari 6!!

I will download Chrome now and use it until this is fixed. 😠

I'd recommend Firefox but each to his own. When I changed to Apple three years ago I abandoned Firefox and IE and became a true Apple Safari monk, but I've been back to using Firefox this last week and what do you know.. it's great..

I've used Firefox some, and it works, but I'm going to try Chrome now. If Safari wants to play the downgrade game, I'll search for greener pastures. The search and tabs just irks me.

SafariStand is not working very well on the tab issue, try Glims instead

Agreed - the tabs are way too wide. Please give us an option to go back the way they they were.

Noope. Doing fine with Safari. Not going to switch to another browser and its new quirks, when I know the one on this one, and if Glimm is all it takes to fix it, so be it.

Change to a whole new browser to solve a tab problem?. Really,... =/

Absolutely Bob.... If you had a 27 inch iMac skating accross the screen to open tabs is painful. On my Macbook Air I did not "upgrade" to Safari 6 and I still use it. If I could roll back on the iMac I would but Firefox is good.

Well, you can use ⌘+W to close active tab and ⌘+T to open new tabs. I know it takes some time to get accustomed to, but once you get used to using it, you won't use your mouse, cause it's faster and easier.

It's not a question of opening and closing tabs & shortcuts it is looking and navigating tabs spread across the screen. Try it with the 27 inch mac with five active tabs.. nichtmare..

I'm not sure what you mean. I am using it with an 80 inch widescreen and have no problems as they are self adjusting.

Glims is not a third party hack. it has been around for years and run succesfully by many users here.

You can also change tabs with the control+tab key command.

That's exactly the problem MyM. The tabs are self adjsuting to fill the entire width of the screen. I don't understand what you don't understand about this not being a problem??

If they were as Safari 5 of Chrome or Firefox there would be no thread here!!!

I’m sure it’s for esthetic purposes. At best it can be labeled as just a personal preference, and not a real "problem". Plenty of people like the new way the tabs look because the screen looks much more streamlined. HOWEVER, my problem with Apple doing this is that they always seem to try to cram new features down consumers throats, instead what they should do is to set them as default AND give consumers an option to turn the new feature off if they want. I’m sure that if enough people complain about the ‘automatic tabs’ that such an on/off option will be added in an upcoming update.
