How can I sync reminders with Google ?

OSX Mountain Lion and iOS experts : how can I sync Reminders on my iPhone with Google (Tasks?) ?

In Mountain Lion : I can choose Google as the Reminder account, although nothing is sync'ing.

And in iOS, it's even worse : I can't even choose Google for reminders (only iCloud).

So why would I not use iCloud then on both devices (desktop and iOS)? Well, because I'd like to use Google as the calendar (for sharing purposes with non-iCloud users) and apparantly, it's not possible to link reminders to iCloud without also linking your calendar to iCloud?! (It's one single item in Mountain Lion in the iCloud settings : "Calenders & Reminders").

Am I missing something?

Many thanks,

Kris

Yeah, using Mountain Lion's new features using only Google services (not iCloud) seems either at best confusing and at worst down right broken. Here's my setup so far:

I've got my Google Calendar & Reminders hooked up to OSX. The Calendar is working fine, although I've no idea how or why Reminders get synced on Google's side. Like you say there doesn't seem to be any way to sync Google Reminders with iOS. The new Calendar app is downright ugly, I reckon I'll be sticking to using Google's web app, but by setting it up like this at least I get Calendar notifications in the notification centre.

I'm also syncing Calendar & Reminders under iCloud too, but just not taking any notice of or using the default iCloud calendar that appears. I then enabled syncing iCloud Reminders on my iPhone, so now Reminders are syncing both ways between OSX and my phone.

Pretty messy, but it works.

few comments:

1) you can setup google account multiple times - for contacts (as CardDAV), calendar (as CalDAV), and Gmail.

this is for iOS - on MacOS (ML), options are somewhat different. I had to use all three on my new iPod,

as Exchange service was discontinued by Google for personal accounts (I think it is still available for business),

it is now not possible to use it on new devices; old ones continue to work.

2) if you want Apple reminders you have to create iCloud account; no need for Apple @icloud.com email.

only Notes would require some kind of email - GMail also works for that. I ignore Notes (and use Evernote).

3) Google reminders (aka Tasks) do not work for me; since recent Gmail UI changes I cannot even find them anymore. Perhaps would work if you set up them with CalDAV account. Did anyone try it?

I have managed to sync my notes to gmail and it works. Thing is I can´t remember exactly how i did it. About tasks I started using gtasks on the iphone and when I´m on the lapptop I just rant.

I will look it up exactly but I think it had something to do with setting notes separately as carddav or something...

I find google support very helpful as it instructs on how to set up most of these ...

Are you using it successfully with OS X 10.9? The developer talks about iOS support, but not OS X. I installed it but it won't sync for me in 10.9 (I get no error messages, just silent failure).

As noted above, after trying everything I finally found Tasket. It works perfectly. you have to set up another mail account as an exchange account and sync it to only sync reminders. The one thing to note is that one of the diagrams in the instructions for setting up in iOS is wrong, it shows filling in the domain field rather than the server field. the server should go in the server field and leave the domain field blank.
