zagg keyboard won't stay connected to Ipad2

I have an Ipad2 and a zaggfolio case and bluetooth keyboard, for my son to use this year in 5th grade. Both are new, in fact zagg has already done a warranty replacement and the replacement has the same problem. I have successfully paired the keyboard with the Ipad, but it won't stay connected. Sometimes the connection lasts the whole day, sometimes just an hour. The Ipad has the most recent operating software installed, and both the Ipad and the keyboard are fully charged.

I can 'solve' the problem by turning off bluetooth, turning off the keyboard, then turning both back on... and so could my kid. But that is a couple of minutes lost, potentially several times a day... which in a crowded classroom setting, in a rush, and when he is already the oddball for using a keyboard, it could be a dealbreaker.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is it fixable? or is it just a 'suck it up, that's the way bluetooth is' kind of thing?

thanks!

This problem appears to include all Zagg keyboards.

I have the same problem with our new Ipad Mini and Zagg folio. I am on my 3rd Folio as Zagg has as sent a 3rd Folio keyboard. (Had to accept a black case, as Zagg did not have any more White cases. 😟) The problem still persists. I reconnect the Zagg Folio per Zaggs recommendation sequence and still randomly drops connection. Have to reconnect about every day.

Please note, I have an older Zagg on Ipad2 and works just fine. Never need to reconnect.

Zagg has not stated or advised where the problem lies, yet the sequence includes shutting off Siri during connection. I have left Siri off and still loses connection.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi Jisake1. I don't know what to suggest. Since I followed the advice given, I've not had any problem with my keyboard and it works fine once I wake it up. I'm presuming mine goes off as an energy saving meaure. Have you tried just pressing the home key down for a few seconds? (I need to press FN and the home key together)

I doubt that it's an ipad problem. I've had this ipad for over a year now (Ipad air), and had to replace a logitech keyboard that lasted 14 months until it started to type weird things. Since then I've had another logitech keyboard which within a month did the same thing. Now I'm on my second Zagg keyboard with the disconnect problems. HM, could it be Ipad's operating system?

***THIS WORKS***

Press and hold the home button on the keyboard. When Siri comes on, press it again. It should take you to the home screen where you can continue using the Zagg with your apps.

***THIS WORKS***

Tested AND re-tested many times.

This issue has been haunting us for a few years on MANY iPads, BUT, not any longer!

Thank You, SuzanneSpartanFan!!!

I kept having this problem...every time I closed the notebook or when the iPad went to sleep, it would lose its connection and I had to turn the iPad off and on to get the keyboard to resync again. It would even say connected under Bluetooth but the keyboard would not function. I found by pressing the lock button three times, it woke up the keyboard and got its connection back. I don't think this was in the user manual.

I am having the same problem with my iPad mini 3 using the Zagg keyboard. I have tried the switch off when not in use and switch back on after opening the folio. I have also tried the keyboard home key press and hold until Siri responds then press again, but that doesn't work either. Siri does not respond. My Zagg folio keyboard keeps disconnecting or becomes unresponsive despite the Bluetooth connection status indicating that it is connected.

Any updates? Thank you

I have an ipad mini air with retina display. I have connectivity and charge issues with the third case I have tried. Cute case, useless as a keyboard. I am going back to a Logitech keyboard case. Never any problems and when you close the lid, syncs right up and charge lasts FOREVER! Just carry it in another protective case and don't drop it! I have a great Thule brand case and the Logitech slips right in.

P.S. Zagg is happy to send you another case, but with no explanation for issues. Good luck!
