Keeping Applications as Fullscreen by default.

The resolution offered by savage-henry acutally doesn't work. I found that all the tabs I had open when I closed the application will be open again when I restart Safari? Does anybody have a solution that actually works?

@gussied81: Thants excatly what the function is done for and named itself.

@all: This function is definitely not, what the TE wanted because it doesn't clean up your programm but stores the information like "open with last tabs" in most browsers, so you have a huge amout of data being kept after closing the programs. When restarting the programm it will take several seconds more and the stability of kept data is in my opinion very bad. Testing this with Safari, Word and other programms they often need to check all windows and wait up to 30 seconds before using them in a quick and nice workflow.

Don't talk about that you every time have the last docs to close you worked with.

Another problem is, that I will help you to keep the app in fullscreen but ONLY if you use CMD+Q for quit at once. If you use CMD+W for quitting several docs, like I often do to clean the screen but leave the app open, the problem with not being in fullscreen reappears.

So no real solution ... a possiblity for many, but neither for TE (I think), nor me nor gussied ...

Thanks Savage - worked for me.

You can turn windows restore off after you've made the changes. Apps should remember the fullscreen setting:

• System Preferences > General > Uncheck "Close windows when quitting an application"
• Open the apps you want to be fullscreen, make them fullscreen, then close them
• System Preferences > General >Check "Close windows when quitting an application"

Edit:

• Nope sorry - app will revert to desktop if you re-check "Close windows when quitting an application" after making the changes to Fullscreen
• And using Command-W before Command-Q will revert the app to Desktop even when the option is unchecked

Grr - I don't want the app to restore open windows & docs next time I open it. But I do want the app to remember that it was fullscreen (or desktop)!

I am on the latest Mavericks.

However, I can't seem to work out why some apps are not opening in fullscreen after restart even following everyone's suggestions here.

I have unchecked:

Close windows when quitting an application

Automatically rearrange spaces with recent use

The apps that work on restart in fullscreen

iTunes

Calendar

Airmail Beta

The ones not working

Firefox

iBooks

Is there a way to also have the fullscreen in the order that I wish too?

Also, does everyone check "Repoen windows when loggin back in" when restarting/quit pop up appears?

I might be missing something but;

Open Safari, click the green + button and manually drag the corners of the window to the extents of your screen screen if they are not already there.

Close Safari.

Relaunch.

Seems to work here, or do I have the wrong end of the stick?

If you read my post the only apps I can get to launch in fullscreen (not full window expand but as an individual screen are Firefox and iBooks now.

I am not using Safari.

I see the distinction now. Only certain apps do full screen, as you have no doubt noticed, the ones with the double arrows in the top right corner.

I believe that the developer will need to implement it for any apps where it's desired.

Yes I am aware not all apps can use fullscreen.

The issue I am raising are only for apps where I can use fullscreen and I want them to open in fullscreen on start up.

Can anyone chime in on a solution? I am baffled. Even Applecare can't advise a solution.

In that case I'm out of suggestions too.

Doesn't work for me anymore... Weird

I signed up to stating my dissatisfaction. There are lots of tiny problems with OS X like not being able to change your welcome page input language. I started living with issues of poor quality, as opposed general image of Apple. But this problem? Really? We, as OS users, simply can't adjust Safari to start in fullscreen by default.

When paying that amount of money to my Macbook Pro, I thought I was paying for something with top notch quality. This device is like a very beautiful/handsome person with unbelievable incompetent brain. And of course with a huge amount of confidence.

Huge disappointment.

That does not work for me too, while using MS power point,

the fault is lying somewhere else.

It was TOO MUCH IRRITATING when it open apps in half screen, everytime u have to resize the window, any suggestion will be highly appreciable.
