Today Apple has released 10.8.4 which specifically mentioned improved Wifi connectivity. It could be the "fix" is in this update.
I'm going to backup my system and see what happens post-update and report back.

Please do that, I for one am very interested to see if this issue has finally been dealt with in comprehensive fashion . . . . This problem seems to havetaken much longer for Apple to acknowledge and deal with than in the past, let's hope it's "done" with 10.8.4 . . . .

So far, I've had no dropouts in the ".4" update. However, I haven't been able to test it completely, as in a full "burn-in" test with long downloads etc, so I won't have that deeper info until this weekend.
But so far, I've not had the "every 5 or 10 minute" dropout like before.

Well, I upgraded to 10.8.4 yesterday afternoon. After the restart I was connected to the corporate WiFi (even with my bluetooth trackpad on) and I did manage to stay connected until I went home for the day! However, this morning when I came in the WiFi connection had been lost (my trackpad was on the whole time). I tried to connect several times and it just kept hunting for a signal without success. I then turned off the trackpad and got a WiFi connection a few seconds later. Just for grins, I then turned on the trackpad and the WiFi connection remained in tact (so far).
So it looks like the trackpad/bluetooth interferes with acquiring a WiFi connection, but once the connection is made there is a good degree of robustness against turning on my trackpad. However, it does eventually drop out and when that happens you can't get the connection back without manually being there to turn off the trackpad. So it is better, but still not in the "just works" category.
Hmmm - I just noted something that I'll report back on soon. I ran my cursor across the menubar (via the trackpad) and for some reason I see that I get the spinning beachball when the mouse is over the BetterTouchTool icon...
So I know the Apple guys who worked on the WiFi might be interested in this. I just ran a sequence of steps related to WiFi and my Bluetooth trackpad and have the console log for everything shown below.
My ethernet was disconnected the whole time and and I also made sure BetterTouchTool was quit.
At the start of the log my trackpad was off and I was connected to the corporate WiFi (which uses a certificate based authentication scheme).
At 8:46 I turned the trackpad on, and the WiFi connection remained in tact.
At 8:47 I turned off the Mac's WiFi
At 8:48 I turned on the WiFi (with the trackpad still on). It unsuccessfully tried to connect until...
At 8:49 I turned off the trackpad (which takes a few seconds). I got a successful connection within 10 seconds.
At 8:50 I turned on the trackpad. The WiFi connection subsequently remained in tact

I'm going home for the weekend now and my WiFi has been working with my bluetooth trackpad operating continuously for 9 hours now. That is indeed a good thing! I'll try to VPN a few times over the weekend and do a spot check on the connection. It does appear the main problem at this point is making the connection (as opposed to maintaining the connection) with my bluetooth trackpad turned on.
Another day of productivity and so far no noticed drop-outs.
I will say however, that if anyone updates to 10.8.4 and still has issues should do the following AFTER applying the update which should clear any old code lurking around:
Do a SAFE BOOT: Hold down the SHIFT button during boot-up.
Zap P-RAM: Hold down P, R, OPTION, COMMAND during boot and KEEP holding them down for two "bong" cycles, then let go and boot normally.
Run the ONYX utility and do all the cleaning and maintenance routines.
Outside of that and I think I can safely say that the ".4" update has solved the WiFi drop issue. Until the next "dot" update, anyway. ha, ha.
With my bluetooth trackpad turned on I still can't connect to the corporate WiFi. When I turn the trackpad off I can then connect just fine and it stays connected all day even though the trackpad continues to run over bluetooth. However, sometime in the evening something must happen to the access points at work (perhaps they're reconfigured on a regular maintenance schedule) because I drop the connection and then, because the trackpad is still turned on, I can't get the connection back - so if I want to VPN in and check up on some stuff during the evening I can't :-(. Note however that if I turn off the trackpad before I go home then I can VPN in anytime I like during the evening and get a connection - presumably if the connection is lost momentarily during the night the MacBook Pro can get it back without issue because the trackpad is turned off.
So, 10.8.4 is a vast improvement over previous 10.8 versions, but still isn't completely robust.
Has anyone noticed any difference since the Airport Utility 6.3.1 Update on July 11th? The reason I ask is because I think this update has started off another problem in Messages.... I've started a thread here if anyone is now having problems with Messages....
