Major UI Lag in Logic Pro 9.1.7 on OS 10.8?

for this bug there is no workaround. It's not a Logic bug - it's a bug from Lion which got worse with Mountaion Lion.

I recommend not to spend creativity on tech stuff, this is an issue for Apple and all of us hope that they will fix it, but noone really knows if they are hot on this.

If you can, use SL. Otherwise, write a hit song and wait to record it until Apple ha hopefully fixed the Lag issue.

I've been having the same problem since installing Mountain Lion.

However, it seems to have gone away since removing Garageband and rebooting. Deleted the app and deleted its folder from application support. So far, the problem hasn't resurfaced. Hope this helps.

THIS BUG IS UGLY AND NO FIX IN SIGHT.

I've had it confirmed to me that Apple is definitely aware of this bug, that a fix has been in the works. In the meantime, you can install Snow Leopard to take care of the problem until the fix is released.

As you should know not all of us can install SL.

Yeah, I'm one of those who can't install SL. What's your point?

I've been running the Console utility to watch the system logs while I use Logic and each time Logic controls would lock up and not let me stop the music sequence, I went to the Console and found these sorts of messages:

It leads me to believe either there is some sort of race condition keeping the file writes from happening or there is a deprecated UI API call (CGSFlushWindow) that is being called when the up-to-date API call (CGSFlushWindowContentRegion). Not sure without doing a bit more digging into things...

I suggest to send your log information to Apple.

My point is that all has been said already and we have no official statement from the vendor.

about 2 days ago i decided to throw in the towel and downgrade back to SL. after a few sleepless nights, I'm almost there. (I'm really tired...)

yes, after reinstalling Logic Pro from scratch, after going through all the updates both for SL and Logic - I am now back to a stable and efficient Logic as before. It's a great relief.

the only difficulty, as mentioned earlier on this discussion, is the mail. I am presently battling to reformat my mail backup so SL can read my previous backed-up messages, ML has of course changed the mail file formats making them unimportable/unrecognizable to Mail in SL ...

in the middle I had talks with a couple of really helpful people at the Apple support (UK). both were well-acquainted the ML/Logic Lag problem. One of them was the Logic specialist, who himself runs Logic. He admitted it to be a well-known issue but was unable to comment or document when Apple might get it solved, but that they are working on it. as such, the only solution was downgrading to SL.

for those who cannot downgrade to SL this must be truly exasperating...

Last months I've had the same problem in my studio (Mediasaloon in Holland), but now it appears gone after 3 hours of testing...!

The trick....?

Installing OSX 10.8.2 supplemental update......

10.8.2 hasn't changed a thing for me unfortunately. Lag is still there just as bad as before. Hope it works for others.

same problem, i cant work like this, im thinking to move to protools

I don't mean the 'normal' 10.8.2 update....

I mean the '10.8.2 supplemental update'..... That's a different update...
