Major UI Lag in Logic Pro 9.1.7 on OS 10.8?

Hi,

I've just completed my first session in Logic 9.1.7 on a Mac Pro Quad Xeon 2.6 after upgrading to Mountain Lion 10.8. I got through it, but experienced the following new bug (as compared to running in Lion 10.7.4:

I noticed that if Logic is currently playing when I double click on a plugin in the channel strip, and then try to stop the playback (keyboard or by clicking the transport in the arrange window), I will get from a 5-45 second lag before the app responds and actually stops. No mouse or keyboard commands seem to work while it's hanging up.

Workaround: Only open plugin windows when playback is stopped, and then playing and stopping works fine (although maybe a little more laggy than in the former OS still).

Is anyone else experiencing this or have any better workaround ideas?

Good idea Pancenter - I hadn't noticed. I'll check this on my next launch, unless someone else beats me to it.

I was also thinking that perhaps this had something to do with MagicMouse scrolling, which I know sends way more data (even accidental scrolling when you're just hovering or holding the mouse), and that perhaps it'sflooding the UI buffer. Just a thought.

I'm going to call Apple Support - I think it's the only way we're going to get any swift action on this. I need a fix for this yesterday!

So I hit this today during a full day working on a very busy mix. I don't use a lot of plugins, but I started to get a very laggy UI just during operations like changing track outputs; the menus would stick and take several seconds to respond.

Disabling the network made no difference, although I did start getting numerous alerts telling me that Logic had detected a device called "Airplay" when I re-enabled it, which was arguably even more annoying.

Same issue here after upgrading from SL to ML, GUI locks up. Sometimes I have to wait for the entire track to finish playing before control comes back! If it happens with loop markers switched on, it usually requires a force quit.

I have reported it to Apple, please - everyone do the same.

I did find reverting back to internal audio rather than my Edirol FA-101 firewire audio interface, improved the situation, but not to the point where it's usable in any professional way.

These and related problems NEED to be addressed by Apple, everyone experiencing delays and path/folder problems need to call Apple as this requires an official solution not workarounds. Call Apple, you can asked to be bumped up a level to advanced technical support... explain the problem clearly. failing to to so means the problems will be around longer than it needs to be.

Yes, same problem since upgrading to Mountain Lion -- only my lag can be between one and two minutes before Logic responds to a mouse or keyboard command and stops playback (or will respond to a key or mouseclick at all.) I suspect my delay may be longer because I'm running Logic on a slower, older IMac. In addition, I've had some odd timing issues under Mountain Lion that I didn't have before: Last night I recorded a vocal track, but when I played it back, it was out of sync, about 240 milliseconds late. It happened several times in a row. I shut down and restarted, relaunched Logic, and it went away. Weird. I've been using Logic since before Apple bought it, and never had these kinds of problems.

I am also experiencing the same issue as described in the OP, and all over the internet.

I hope Apple are working on a fix as I am struggling to do my job whilst this issue is occurring.

Well, did you call them as I suggested... to "hope" they're working on a fix is pipe dreaming. The more people that let Apple know what's going on the quicker it will get fixed.

Has Apple trained everyone not to call and complain?
