Set snooze duration for Mountain Lion notifications

I have just upgraded to Mountain Lion and absolutely love it. My computer is faster and everything works more fluidly.

One change I don't particularly like is that I cannot set the length of time with which my notifications "snooze".

In the past, I'd get a reminder and I'd be able to specify whether I would be reminded in the next 5 mins to 2 weeks. Now the only option is 15 minutes.

Does anyone know how to tell Notification Center how long I want my reminders to snooze??

Thanks.

Can't advise on new iWork. I know they changed a lot of things that ticked people off, but then released an update that seemed to address some of the complaints.

In regards to Mavericks Calendar... some features are a bit more hidden. Just click on the event duration text in the pop-up and it will expand to give you options to set duration, time zone, repeat, travel time, and alerts.

In regards to the original post of not being able to set snooze durations in desktop notifications... that feature has returned in Mavericks, but you may not have realized it. You can access several snooze time options by clicking and holding the snooze button.

Thanks for the reply Bill. But, the devil is in the details. My comment about event duration is about defaults. Yes, it's easy to change the duration to all day but on the previous version calendar it was possible to set a preference for which duration of event it initially creates. This is largely about minimizing clicks to get to the desired end result.

On the snooze duration topic of this thread, there are still some issues about how it's handled in Mavericks. If you read over the past few pages I think you'll see what those are.

Ah... I see what you are talking about now.

I also read thru the other posts regarding some remaining snooze issues. So far, none of those seem to be effecting my use of events on Mac, iPhone and iPad. If I miss it on one device, I'm alerted by others. My biggest beef was when they removed the snooze options in notifications altogether.

That's a good point. Now that many of us have multiple devices, alerts can be spread about. If you fail to be alerted from one device maybe the next one will get you.

I'm still perturbed about this calendar thing. It used to be that if I clicked "all day" for a multiple day event, it would create individual events for each day. I didn't realize how this was helping me until now. In Mavericks it doesn't create individual events so I have to make individual events for each day for a multiple day event if I want to put notes in for each day individually. I know this sounds like I'm nit picking but it's just that it used to take less time to fill my calendar with appointments. This is compounded because it isn't 'keyboard only' friendly. I have to bounce back and forth between keyboard and mouse for almost every step.

I hate it but I'm finding myself looking for third party software for almost everything that Apple used to do really well. Password manager, email app, web browser, calendar. Someone tell me again, why am I using Mac OS?

Have you tried the following?

- Creat a single all day event

- Set REPEAT to EVERY DAY

- Set END to the day you want the event/reminders to end

- Set ALERT as desired

Would that meet your needs?

Dropping snooze options from notifications was what bothered me, but now I'm not having any problems. In regards to the other apps... I still think Apple does it better than the competion for the most part. I sometimes need to use a Windows 8 machine and deal with Google apps or my work. I'm always happy to come back to my Apple software afterwards.

I think those who have multiple Apple devices really see the benifits. My Mac, iPhone and iPad keep my contacts, events, notes, lists, photos and more synced. My AppleTV + Music match subscription can't be beat IMO.

That is a shortfall. I experienced a loss of reminders when my MBPro was in for service. Luckily I remembered the events and rescheduled when I got it back. Not sure if my Mac Pro (Lion 10.7.5) calendar mods will extend to the MBPro via iCloud to keep them current while it is down being repaired. I'll have to see if they do, along with the mods on mobile devices.

BTW, I do like Mavericks hold/snooze ability to choose the next reminder. Now was that hard to do? ;)
