iMessage won't send pictures after Mountain Lion

So I used the iMessage beta on my Mac when it was running Lion and it worked great . After upgrading to Mountain Lion iMessage will not send photos. It sends text just fine but photos do not get sent.

OS X Mountain Lion

HI,

This does seem to be a cross between a server issue and Messages itself.

However it could also be one of those things that can be "fooled" by the Force Quitting of the IMTransferAgent.

Most people seem to report the issues arises for them if the Messages app is Off line when the Pics are sent or Asleep.

This suggests the Server can't tell what has been sent and what should be synced.

Of course one view would be the app can't tell if it is new or synced stuff that is being sent.

HI,

What service are you trying to send Pics or Files over ?

Some Jabber servers need you to enable the file transfer part of the services the Jabber Server offers.

This would normally be done with a Third Party app like Psi.

I would not consider the Yahoo service offering in iChat 6 and Messages to be good enough for testing File Transfers.

I have the same problem: iMessage working fine on iPhone & iPad but on iMac I can neither receive nor send photos. Messages with photos attached don't arrive at all. If I try to send a photo to myself, after 5 minutes the photo disappears out of the iMessage thread, as if I've deleted it! Looking at the activity monitor, incoming photos have a 'stopped' starus and outgoing ones a zero kb status. I'm not prepared to delete various files in Finder every day to get it to work, I'd rather rely on my iPad etc and await a fix: there clearly is a problem but it's weird that it's limited to a few. There's another post on the same subject: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4159310?start=15&tstart=0

and no real solution there either. Irritating. A supposed feature of Mountain Lion that has the oposite effect of 'feature'...

Hi

In the Finder > Go Menu > Hold the ALT key down > Select Library (That appears) > Navigate to Preferences.

You have to use this method as the Library in the Users own folder is now Hidden.
