Upgraded to mountain Lion Heating issues

I have just upgraded to Mountain Lion and I can feel the heat of my Imac from 4 feet away. I cannot touch the top or back of the Imac as it is now too hot to touch and i can now hear the fan working very hard.

I have had the heating and fan issue since 29 July when I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Today I found an update for my antivirus software (ESET Cybersecurity) which was released 27 July to coincide with the ML update. Downloaded and installed the ESET update and the problem appears to have disappeared. Random fix but I'm a lot happier today than I have been for the past 2 weeks.

I've had a similar problem since upgrading from early 2011 MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard directly to Mountain Lion (did the upgrade a couple of weeks ago). Gradually more and more time has been spent with the fan running until it really started affecting batter power over the last couple of days.

I seem to have found a solution from another thread using Disk Utility and repairing my disk permissions. Perhaps the upgrade didn't resolve all disk permissions to ML's liking. Anyway, after repairing disk permissions and shutting down for a few minutes and restarting, fan usage seems to have reverted to normal.
