Issues opening Microsoft Office 2008 programs with MTN LION?

Hi all, I can't seem to open any of my microsoft office programs since I upgraded to Mountain Lion today.

Anyone else having this problem? I know they say it's compatible but it keeps opening then closing.. screen shot enclosed.

Don't worry. We're still troubleshooting. Restart your Mac, sign into your regular account and try again. Assuming it still doesn't work, then:

From Finder, hold down the option key and click on Go in the menu bar. From the drop-down, click Library. This will open a Finder window with your User library selected. Navigate to Preferences. Within preferences, drag every file with the name com.microsoft.xxxxxx.plist onto your desktop (xxxxxxx will be a different name for each file). Then try to open Word again and see what happens.

So close!

I took out the files you requested...and it looked like it was going to work.

But it didnt.

What I noticed, when I open Word, all those files I took out, a copy of them showed up in that Preferences folder again...

It literally acted like it was going to work...the little assistant thing popped up and it asked to check for updates (which it did in the guest account too) THEN IT TRICKED ME.

:'(

Hmmm. I can't tell exactly what folder you are in from your screen shot. Here's how you get to it:

From Finder, hold down the option key and click on Go in the menu bar. From the drop-down, click Library. This will open a Finder window with your User library selected. Navigate to Preferences. Within preferences, there is a subfolder named Microsoft.

By the way, you should be careful when posting screenshots. Your screenshot has your name and email address showing, which could be a privacy concern.
