Has anyone had a problem with airplay mirroring a 2012 MacBook Air?

I have the new macbook air and i upgraded to mountain lion (after a three day code delay) and i am trying air play mirror mode because it was the one feature i really wanted. Now im getting an extreme lag. Once it begins to work i am getting sound but the video is in still frames every 5-10 seconds, I have the newest apple tv as well. Does anyone else have this problem, is there a fix. Its not my router because i dont have problems streaming anything else over my network.

Not sure if this will help you or not, but I had the same situation - tried everything. iPad and iPhone worked like a charm. I am using Time Capsule for my wireless (less than 2 years old) and not too long after I got the Apple TV3 I had to update it due to issues with the backup.

Long story short, with the new wifi the mirroring finally looks good. I never thought I had latency issues with the wifi (strong signal too) but after the updated machine it works really well on the mbp. For what it is worth.

I have been having the same problem and I actually had downgraded back to Lion out of dissapointment but decded to come back today. The mirroring from my MBP is actually perfect. No complains there. Only issue is the micro delay of the mouse. I was using a Blutooth white mouse. If I use the track pad on MBP, actually, the delay is minimal. Almost acceptable. If you pay attention. It is about the same delay you experience between apple remote and ATV2. Btw, I am completely wired, so you cannot blame it on the WIfi. For now.. I am going to blame it on my old ATV2. I have spoken to many people and almost nobody I know is experiencing this, or maybe they just don't notice it as much as we do :-)

I have a MBP 15 Inch Retina & just bought an Apple TV3 thinking it was going to be a piece of cake. Definately wrong.

Got the black screen of death and then came here to this thread & cleared out the Library Deamons, etc in the LIbary folder. This helped me get an image on the screen, but the lag was insane. I can't even call it lag because it just showed an image of my desktop but nothing reflected anything I was actually doing on my computer.

I guess I'll look into the wifi now, but wondering why this has to be so difficult.

I had the same problem with my 2012 Mac Air. My iPad Mini worked perrfectly from the same location in the house but the MacBook suddenly started stuttering on both video and audio. It did the same with iTunes tracks. Then I remembered that I had changed channels on a video sender transmitting from the Sky Box to a set in the kitchen. I reset the video sender channels and the ATV problem disappeared.
