I tried installing Telstra Connection Manager - didn't work for me. I had already tried installing the software Virgin recommended on their website to make the E3131 work with 10.8 and that didnt' work either.

Buying a hub was the only solution that did work in the end. Worked immediately after installing the software that came with the stick (rather than the software on Virgin's forums). Thanks Apple folk for helping out yet again 🙂

Got the solution based on the following:

Tested the problem on MacBook Pro 2013 (Retina) with Yosemite.

I tested 2 Huawei dongles: E1820 and E3131

Result: Success on both dongles! No need to go out and buy a hub.

Download the driver from the Huawei website: http://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/downloads/detail/index.htm?id=31322

File name:

Mac-V200R003B015D11SP01C983(for Mac10.10)

Description

To solve the problem for Modem product on Mac10.10.

Hope it helps...

I confirm that it also works on MacBook 7.1, OS 10.10.1 (Yosemite)

Just follow the link http://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/downloads/index.htm?keyword=e3131

, and download the driver you need.

ATTENTION!

Before install the new driver, remove the old driver (application) from Applications, but also remove it from System Pref\Network by hit the "-" button, after pointing on device.

Restart and install the new driver.

Make sure you write somewhere your internet provider accessing parameters, before delete/uninstall the old driver/application

Good luck !

Hi there

I recently bought a Huawei LTE dongle for my 13" retina macbook pro laptop. The device communicates with the laptop and opens up the hilink page.

Once I connect to the internet, after a minute or so the band width begins to drop all the way to 0kbs. The bandwidth / speed does not rise after that. The only way to connect to the net again is by unplugging and re inserting to start the cycle all over.

Huawei Detail

Device name:E3272
IMEI:864217025207726
IMSI :649011914360189

Software version:22.470.59.00.131
Web UI version:13.100.11.00.131
MAC Address:00:0D:87:8E:4B:AC
WAN IP Address:Unknown

Macbook Details

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)

2.4 GHz Intel Core i5

8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Intel Iris 1536 MB

Serial Number C02LJ3D7FH00

I believe the issue is between the device and OS because it works ok on windows.

Is there a work around to this problem? Is there a setting I need to make on my macbook pro?

Please help
