Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

The printed output may be incorrect because the printer information has not been acquired. Start Printer Utility to get the printer information.

I recently upgrated to Mountain Lion on Thurs.

I came to work on Sat/Sun unable to print from the canon image runner advance at work. (model c5035).

First I received an error message saying "Failed to read module" Re-install.:20600

So i installed from canon.

Now, the printer will print but everytime i go to print something i get this error mesage and it's driving me nuts.

"The printed output may be incorrect because the printer information has not been acquired.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pahu, I have such a similar problem in Brazil. I bought my new macbook pro 15'' (os x 10.8) and when I try to add the printer in the office (network) it installs correctly but when I try to print I get the same error. "The printed output may be incorrect..."

I try all your steps above and still have the same problem, do you have any idea what could be?

Thanks😕

Hi, I get this error when I am trying to print wirelessly with my mac with a canon MF 4880dw, any help to print, canon has no clue.

Error: /Library/Printers/Canon/CUPS_MF_Printer/Bins/capdftopdl failed

If you had a previous version of the UFR2 driver installed and then installed the most recent version to print to the Canon, then remove the driver files as I have shown earlier in this thread and then install the latest driver.

Previously I have only seen this message when the UFR2 driver has already been installed, say on 10.7 or 10.6, and the Mac is upgraded to 10.8 and the latest UFR2 driver for 10.8 is then installed over the top of the old driver. Given that you have a new Mac with 10.8, I would assume that you did not already have the older driver installed. Also, if you have removed the UFR2 files and reinstalled the latest UFR2 driver, then this has normally been the fix for this message.

So it would seem that you have a different cause for this message to appear. Can you confirm what model of Canon device you are printing to. Could you also open System Information, select Printers in the left column then the Canon in the top right pane. The bottom right pane will give information about the connection to the Canon. Can you copy this information and paste back here please.

Thanks for supplying the information Paulo. I can see the cause of your error message is due to the print queue URI. You will see your URI is set at lpd://192.168.5.48. This is wrong for the UFR2 driver. What it should be set to is "cntdbmu://MCD_UFR2_LPR/iR1025/lpd://192.168.5.48/".

The most likely cause for the queue being created incorrectly is that the UFR2 Backgrounder process was not running when you created the printer. You can check this by opening Activity Monitor. I would expect that you will not see the process "UFR II Backgrounder", which should be present. Assuming that it is not present on your Mac, you can open Finder and select Go > Go To Folder. Then type in /Library/Printers/Canon/UFR2/Utilities and press Go. This will open the Utilities folder and here you will see two files; Canon UFR II Printer Utility and UFR II Backgrounder. Double-click the UFR II Backgrounder icon. Nothing will open on the Mac, but if you now check Activity Monitor you should see the UFR II Backgrounder process. If you do, then open Print & Scan, remove the current iR1025 printer and add it again, using the LPD protocol as you did previously. This should now create the print queue correctly. You can check via System Information. If it does show something similar to what I have shown above, you should now be able to print without the error.

Hello,

I have the same error message as @paulocrepaldi from above except I have a different printer. Before I try your suggestion I wanted to make sure that I should do the same thing since my printer is a little different. Can you help me with this?

My printer is a Canon imageCLASS MF4890dw, black and white laser jet. I only get this error message when I try to print coupons from coupons.com.

Above you asked @paulocrepaldi to do this "Can you confirm what model of Canon device you are printing to. Could you also open System Information, select Printers in the left column then the Canon in the top right pane. The bottom right pane will give information about the connection to the Canon. Can you copy this information and paste back here please." I can't find this information. I have a desktop iMac. Where can I find this info to share with you?

Thank you so much!!

Sometimes when this message appears the document still prints. Does this occur when printing from coupons.com?

If you open Finder and navigate to Applications > Utilities, you will see System Information. Open this, select Printers in the left column and you will see the information in the right pane. Or if you have more than one printer you will see all of these printers in the top right pane and selecting the MF will show its information in the bottom right pane.

I also checked the Activity Monitor like you mentioned above. I'm not 100% sure I understand what I'm looking at but I don't think I see "UFR II Backgrounder".

Then I did the other thing you listed above: "/Library/Printers/Canon/UFR2/Utilities and press Go."

My mac said that the folder couldn't be found. Just wanted to share in case that helps.

Thank you.

The v10 driver you are using does not have the Backgrounder process. This process existed in the earlier version of driver that the OP was using.

Like above, this folder structure is for the previous UFR2 driver, not the v10 driver you are using.

I just tested printing from the Coupons site to an MF4890dw. The coupon printed for me, but the fact that you need to install their Coupons printer plugin so that you can print from their site is a red flag to me and most likely your issue. If there was some way you could print to PDF from this site, then maybe this could be a workaround. But since the plugin stops the Apple print dialog from appearing, there is not much that I can suggest.

Thanks for your help! I'm not sure I understand why it won't work but the bottom line is I'm not going to be able to print coupons from coupons.com. Correct? In order for me to make a complaint about this issue I need to know if this is Canon's fault or Coupons.com fault. Right now each company is essentially blaming the other which doesn't help me at all. What are your thoughts? Thank you again!

I know that there has been other users within this forum stating that they cannot print from this same web site. Here is one example.

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4306895

And in this example, the support tech from Coupons.com suggests running the web browser in 32bit mode.

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4803181?answerId=21250361022#21250361022

I would also add that since you have to install the "coupons printer" in order to print from this site, and that this "coupons printer" does not open the Apple print dialog when you print (thus stopping the user from making any driver changes) then I would say that Coupons.com is making it very difficult to resolve any printing issues that anyone would have.

The printed output may be incorrect because the printer information has not been acquired. Start Printer Utility to get the printer information.
