Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

The printed output may be incorrect because the printer information has not been acquired. Start Printer Utility to get the printer information.

I recently upgrated to Mountain Lion on Thurs.

I came to work on Sat/Sun unable to print from the canon image runner advance at work. (model c5035).

First I received an error message saying "Failed to read module" Re-install.:20600

So i installed from canon.

Now, the printer will print but everytime i go to print something i get this error mesage and it's driving me nuts.

"The printed output may be incorrect because the printer information has not been acquired.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Pahu

I have a similar issue. Wondering if you can help.

"The printed output may be incorrect because the printer information has not been acquired.

I have iRC3080 and I'm using 10.8.5 running UFRII 2.43 for both driver and utility.

Thanks for supplying the information Paulo. I can see the cause of your error message is due to the print queue URI. You will see your URI is set at lpd://192.168.5.48. This is wrong for the UFR2 driver. What it should be set to is "cntdbmu://MCD_UFR2_LPR/iR1025/lpd://192.168.5.48/".

The most likely cause for the queue being created incorrectly is that the UFR2 Backgrounder process was not running when you created the printer. You can check this by opening Activity Monitor. I would expect that you will not see the process "UFR II Backgrounder", which should be present. Assuming that it is not present on your Mac, you can open Finder and select Go > Go To Folder. Then type in /Library/Printers/Canon/UFR2/Utilities and press Go. This will open the Utilities folder and here you will see two files; Canon UFR II Printer Utility and UFR II Backgrounder. Double-click the UFR II Backgrounder icon. Nothing will open on the Mac, but if you now check Activity Monitor you should see the UFR II Backgrounder process. If you do, then open Print & Scan, remove the current iR1025 printer and add it again, using the LPD protocol as you did previously. This should now create the print queue correctly. You can check via System Information. If it does show something similar to what I have shown above, you should now be able to print without the error.

Print queue URI is also only taking IP address when I check via System Infomation. UFRII backgrounder process does not appear in activity monitor and wont appear have I click on UFR II backgrounder icon after locating in library etc.

Ive tried to re-add the printer and manually add the approriate print queue but when I check in System Infomation it is appending the IP address before my manually entered text.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like an application or other process is stopping the UFRII Backgrounder process from opening. To check, open the Console application (Applications > Utilities) and with the All Messages selected, click in the Filter box and enter UFR. This should change the view so that only entries with UFR are listed and you should now see if the UFRII Backgrounder is attempting to open and hopefully what is stopping it from doing so.

Hi

Yep looks like trying to open:

Any ideas?

Thanks for that. While it shows that it is failing to launch it also fails to show why.

Can you open Finder and select Go > Go to Folder. Then type (or copy) the following line then press the Go button.

/Library/LaunchAgents

Can you show me what you have in here.

Then using the Go to Folder facility again, type (or copy) the following and press Go

~/Library/LaunchAgents

Like above, show me what you have installed in this folder.

Thanks for that.

With all those processes set to open, there is a chance that one of them could be our culprit.

So you could try creating another user account on the Mac and then logging in with that account. The idea is that none of the items in the user Library will load, so if you can create the printer correctly (meaning that the backgrounder process has been able to start), then it was one of these process set to start for the admin user account.

Hi:

I have the same problem as syd337. I see in Console the constantly re-occuring message:

9/20/13 12:42:19.260 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[311]: (jp.co.canon.UFR2.BackGrounder) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds

I am using OS 10.8.5 and trying to print to a Canon MF4370dn printer. I have created another user account and tried to print from there -- no joy, and the same message appears in Console.

Thanks for any suggestions. I also can't get printer information. The computer is communicating with the printer, however. For instance, 10.0.0.27 shows up as the IP address for the Canon printer when hitting "go to printer web site" which puts me at http://canon0b8fa7.local./H28_0_0_d_net.html (their remote UI). This seems like the correct IP address; at least it is in the range for the IP addresses that the router assigns.

Have you found a way to be able to use the Address Book from within Preview when faxing from the Canon MF4350d?

Hadn't tried it before but did find it was not available, even though you get a prompt the first time about allowing Preview to access your Address Book.

Need to do some more testing. Can you pls create a new post in the Mavericks forum as this symptom is different to this thread.

The printed output may be incorrect because the printer information has not been acquired. Start Printer Utility to get the printer information.
