Hi everyone,
My hotmail email has stopped pushing email to my Iphone...it was working fine before and now it is only getting emails when I manually go in...any advice please?
iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1
My Hotmail/Outlook.com accounts were working perfectly under iOS 5. Once I upgraded to iOS 6, however, I've noticed a bunch of issues... The biggest issue of course is that push is no longer working. Most Exchange account users are reporting this problem and it's clear that Apple broke something in iOS 6. Related to push not working, I've also noticed Flagged messages on the iPhone are not being updated to match the server. Also messages replied to through the web are not being flagged as replied to on my phone as it did in iOS 5. Also in iOS 5 I was able to reply to a message using an alias address in my Outlook.com account, but in iOS 6 this doesn't work and I can only respond using the primary address.
My hotmail account is not updating either. I do think it is a microsoft issue only because several times I tried to log into my laptop and it is said "outlook is currently experiencing problems, please try again later." It has worked sometimes and then not sometimes. I have other accounts on the phone setup the same way and they are working.... not sure if it has something to do with the address.... the other two are @live addresses. It is driving me crazy... cause it keeps popping back to old emails that I have in my VIP so they keep popping on my screen and I think I have new emails.... Has anyone contacted microsoft about this? I'm going to try there next after I read a few more posts and see if anyone has come up with anything.
Any input appreciated and Thanks 🙂
I'm having the same problem in iOS 5.1.1. I have an iPhone 4S. This has only been happening the past few days.
I'm not sure I agree. It's likely that it could be, but the Mail client could also be buggy. Why assume without a doubt that the problem is on Microsoft's end?
Then you don't understand push access, which originates at the server.
And where does it end up after the server pushes it? That's right, you know the answer. Everybody else reading this does, too.
Failures in IT services can happen on any link in the chain.
Apple needs to do something.
Have you contacted Microslop buddy boy?
I'm sorry, but this is not correct. The default Hotmail setup is push, not fetch. If you think it's fetch, you're mistaken (it's push). It's just not working the past few days.
I deleted the account today. Rebooted, then set it up as exchange and have push on. It worked fine for 1/2 the day and now I have to keep checking my email.
What causes you to state that the only way to get push with Hotmail is to use Exchange?
Wah.... then get rid of it.
Have you contacted Microsoft?
Hey allan and good morning. I'm still looking into how to contact Microsoft about the problem. I'm really starting to think it is them.

I am having the same problem. I wonder if this has anything to do with it...
You never know. It could be very possible. I don't understand why it hasn't been resolved yet. It has been all over the internet for almost a week now.
