Does anybody know how to empty the cache in Safari 6.0, within the new OS. Used to be empty cache was a click under the Safari pull down menu. Now the 'empty cache' is gone. They have the 'reset Safari' click, but that is not what I want to do. Just empty the cache, if that is still possible. I can't think of a good reason why Apple will take this option away. Thanks.
Enable the Develop menu in Safari Preferences > Advanced. The Empty Cache option will be there.
Wow, that's great and I thank you for your quick answer. It says under that menu 'empty caches', like in plural. Rather then a single cache, like used to be. Which caches does it effect, if you happen to know? Thanks again.
Pretty sure emptying caches just clears stored pages, especially static elements. Not sure if clears favicons or form history, too. History is cleared from the History menu.

I am just wondering, by moving the 'Empty Cache' feature under the 'Develop' menu, and it will only show when check in the preferences, does this mean now it is like an advance feature, or that we no longer need to "constantly clear cache" manually?

Once it's enabled, there's a key command for emptying the cache(s). See the image above.

Thanks that worked great. Although someone needs to change the help menu on Safari because it still tells you to go to Safari and it is under there... Just saying!
I agree with you! It took me forever to figure it out!
This function does not delete the Safari cache.db file, which contains details on all pages the user has visited. The only way to delete it is to do so manually in the Finder. Chrome and Firefox both delete their cache.db file when the user clears their browser data. Only Safari fails to do this.
This is an appaling privacy failure.

I don't know why Apple has this hangup about protecting users privacy, making it as difficult as they can.
Thanks for you very quick reply. Inside the com.apple.safari, is a folder named Webpage Previews. Inside are hundreds of jpeg images, and a folder named Incoming, which is empty. I do not see a folder named cache.db.

That's interesting... The cache.db file appears in the com.apple.Safari folder on both my iMac and my Macbook Pro... Even after I delete it, it re-appears as soon as I re-open Safari.
I'm running ML 10.8.2 and Safari 6.0.2. Are you running the same?
Thanks. Yes, I am running exactly the same versions on my MacBok pro as well. A Spotlight search for cache.db revealed zero results.
You say in your reply to look for a file: Caches/com.apple.safari., and that the cache.db is located inside this folder. I do not have that. I have a folder named Caches, I double clicked on it and when it opened I found among many others in it, the folder com.apple.safari. Double clicking on that revealed the Webpage Previews folder I describe above. Is this the route you meant for me to take?
