Anybody some ideas about it? Is there a fix from apple? I installed Mountain Lion (clear install with second HD, boot from second HD and download ML, format intern HD and start Install from ML, choose intern HD, after Install just switch the second HD off) now seven times and always there are these glitches...

Best Regards,

I've just got the logic board replaced (under warranty) because of these glitches but that didn't solve the problem.

I also tried with a clean install of Mountain Lion restoring my account with Time Machine but that didn't solve it too.

I'm thinking about trying with a clean install without restoring my account or sending it back to Apple...

I don't know... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. A clean install didn't solve these problems, because i just tried it several times...
  2. In most cases and errors, it's not the hardware, because i have it on my MBP Late '11 and rMBP Mid '12

Only solution:

We have to wait for Mountain Lion 10.8.3. There the graphic drivers would be revised... hopefully...

Because of the fact, that i have these problems only with Mountain Lion (not with Lion), the driver could be the only solution! And it seems, that Apple is working on that!

The first beta of OS X 10.8.3 arrives as Build 12D32, and users are required to install the OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility in order to upgrade to the build.

Areas of focus for testing include AirPlay, AirPort, Game Center, and Graphics Drivers.

Currently, the beta status has arrived build 12D50. Please wait till this update release! And if this release did not solve your problems, run as fast as you can to your nearest Apple Store, talking to them, that this can not be!!!

As i am writing here, i have terrible Glitches here... See yourself!

Hi All,

I have been having this problem since the second I upgraded to Mountain Lion. See attached screenshots.

I have an open case with Apple and they don't seem to have an idea. They are sending me to an Apple Service center to get the video card checked out. The problem is sporadic. WHen it happens, the only way to resolve is to reboot. When I reboot, all is fine. Then, at some point, the problem kicks in again. Usually it seems to be after the screensaver has been on for a while.

This happens in Safari and sometimes the screens saver screen itself. The most obvious is the form fields on a website form are usually surrounded by an ugly blueish graphic.

Here are some screenshots.

Still having the problem on my Mid-2009 27" iMac.

So far, Apple has replaced the Radeon 4850 video card, and I have verified the problem just with stock RAM / Hard Disc etc. Very, very frustrating. My AppleCare runs out in 2 months, so i'm hoping to sort this out by then.

It seems pretty clearly a software / driver problem, for which Apple technical support is telling me does not warrant hardware replacement.. basically i'm stuck hoping Apple can fix this problem even though they can't reproduce it.

My video glitching seems worse than many posted, here are a couple screenshots indicative of what I see when it happens.. note that a reboot immeidatley fixes the problem. If I don't reboot once this starts happening, my video will generally 'lock up' within 5-10 minutes (further leading me to believe this is some kind of graphics driver memory leak / bug).

Interesting, Jeff. I have another case opened with Apple for my system locking up. Sounds like the same issue you are having. My wireless keyboard and trackpad lock up. Initially, Apple thought it was a bluetooth issue, but even if I plug in a USB keyboard, it still doesn't work. I never thought that both issues could be related. Is this basically what you are experiencing?

Incidentally, I'm on a MacPro from November, 2010. I believe they were updated in July of that year.

Yep, still happening to me as well. 10.8.3 hasn't fixed anything. I must leave Graphics Switching off in the System Prefs or deal with the garbled text and images in Mail and Safari. This of course causes rapid battery drain.

Come on Apple. Enough already.
