Network Printer Problems in Mountain Lion

After performing a clean install of Mount Lion on a MacBook Pro I am not able to add any of my printers which are shared by Lion Server. I continue to get the following error:

"Unable to download the software from the server at this time."

I get this message regardless of the printer I try to add.

I have checked with the manufacturers of the printers and drivers are available for Mountain Lion.

Thoughts?

I tried removing the printer on the client and re-installing, using the generic PostScript driver - made no difference.

What happened when you tried to print from the client Mac? Did the printer proxy open and show the job being sent or did the job simply not get sent?

So I ran console on both machines (All Messages) and watched what happened when I tried to print to it from the Client.

With Console open, expand /var/log and then expand cups. Then select error_log. Each print job on OS X is logged and the job number is shown inside of square brackets. What is shown for the print jobs sent to the server share when using the Generic PS driver?

The Client machine noted "Dock: no information back from LS about running process" (which doesn't sound very hopeful) - the server showed nothing on the console.

While it does not sound good I don't think this message relates to your print job not working.

As a test, there is an alternate driver suite called PrintFab. There is a cost for purchasing the suite but it also has a 30 day trial. If you were to install this suite and add the printer again, this time using the R360 PrintFab driver, it would be good to see if this works or fails. If it fails, then you have some other issue with your setup.
