Random sleep mode after Mountain Lion install

Hello, I have a MacBook air 11" late 2011.

after installing Mountain Lion I get random sleep modes, usually right after a waking up the computer.

that has never happened before so I assume that it is a sotware issue.

I do not have a hot corner for sleep (have checked)

anybody else has the same problem

Yeah, I've got the same problem since I installed Mountain Lion and it's getting really ridiculous. In the last fifteen minutes my two year old MBP went to sleep at least five times. Could be more. Occasionally my notebook works fine for 30 minutes and then, bam, sudden sleep mode. Thus I can't really make out a pattern.

Here are a few more details: When my notebook goes to sleep it immediately wakes up again. So it doesn't stay in sleep mode but immediately wakes up due to, what Console calls, "Wake reason: EC LID0".

What all sleep modes have in common is the way my laptop goes to sleep (as seen in Console):

I already resetted the SMC, tried the caffeinate command, adjusted all the relevant settings and also tried the app Coffeine. Nothing worked, unfortunately. I also can't reinstall Mountain Lion right now as I don't have a good enough Internet connection and my notebook goes to sleep randomly. So yeah. And ideas?

One more thing: When I put my Mac into sleep mode by choice, i.e. I close it, the problem seems to continue. That is: my Mac will occasionally wake up and then go into sleep mode again. This is quite obvious as the Apple logo shines bright and white when it wakes up. No idea why it does so though.

Help? 😀

So, I know it takes time to redownload and reinstall Mountain Lion (correct me if I'm wrong, I think the installer deletes itself once you install ML), but I'd like to reenstate that once I did this, the problem was gone, and installing the system over itself didn't change anything else (apps, configs, etc)

If you don't know how to redownload Mountain Lion, just check the App Store in the Purchased tab, and you will see the option do download it.

Well, I just tried your method and, unfortunately, it didn't work. Downloaded and installed ML, had several random sleep modes in between, and not even ten minutes after I reinstalled ML the random sleep modes came back. I really have no clue what to do next but working in this environment is effin annoying and near to impossible. After having tried your method I'm also not to eager to try reinstalling my system untill it suddenly works. Mmph. Thanks for your tips though! I'm just grumpy as I really regret having installed ML. Caused me nothing but problems.

I was hoping 10.8.1 would fix this, but unfortunately it has gotten substantially worse since that upgrade. It now consistently happens everytime I wake up the computer, within minutes it goes back to sleep. It also seems to take longer to be able to wake it up again. If I listen carefully and wait for the harddrive and fans to stop spinning, then it will seem to wake up, but if I start trying to wake it up immediately it seems to take longer.

Add me to the list. I thought 10.8.1 would fix the issue but today it happened again after a long time. Had the Macbook Air 13" 2012 256GB sleeping for about an hour with the lid closed. Opened the lid logged in and within about 10-20 sec the display goes dark. Very strange hopefully this is a software bug since so many different machines are affected. My guess is something to do with Mountain Lion.

Yup. It does nothing.

I also hoped for the Update to change things but unfortunately it didn't. Let me put things into perspective: in the last 45 minutes my MBP went to sleep mode 27 - oh wait - 29 times. That's unacceptable. I can't work, I can't read an article, I can't even procrastinate. Caffeine, the terminal command caffeinate, disabling the Energy settings so my system would never got sleep, disabling the Sudden Motion Sensors, re-installing ML, resetting the SMC: nothing. So I'm really out of ideas.

And I will always get the same system log which I already posted earlier.

Again: this is unacceptable and it only ocurred after I intalled ML. I upgraded from SL. And I've never been this disappointed in and furious at Apple for a product.
