Magic Mouse tracking poorly and losing Bluetooth connectivity since Mountain Lion upgrade

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I have experienced frequent and inconsistant tracking from my Magic Mouse. It will work fine and then out of no where, and without any connection to a particular app or process (that I can identify) it will begin stop moving or move in a very jittery fashion. I'm also experiencing Bluetooth connection loss with the mouse from time to time out of nowhere. I cleaned the mouse and even went to so far as to replace it with another, brand new Magic Mouse and have seen the same problem.

I have also tried resetting PRAM and SMC.

Anyone else experiencing this or a similar issue? Have any suggestions of things to try?

David suggests restarting in Safe-Mode. (Shut down, press power key, hold down SHIFT immediately after the start up tone until the Apple symbol appears)

I had already tried the suggestions made by Apollo2000 here:

With some success.

Restarting in Safe-Mode restored the functionality of the USB hub built into my 30" Appple Display and resolved the Magic Mouse bluetooth connectivity for me. The effect continued over beyond a standard restart.

So:

Safe-Mode boot

then Restart

I hope this helps.

OK, so I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro, and the problem for me is that about once every week or two, my magic mouse starts slowing down, exhibits jerky movements, and this gets progressively worse for about a minute or two. Then the "Connection Lost" ghost warning pops up, followed within seconds by the "Mouse Connected" ghost pop-up. Then all is well for another week or two. The keyboard works fine, never exhibits this behavior. This is usually solved by replacement of the batteries. Since this just happened, I see my Eneloop batteries are at 15%, so I will replace.

Ha ha! I laugh because this sounded like such a great possibility and I figured it could not hurt anything! I applied the Combo Update and the very first thing that happened after the restart was that the mouse lost connectivity. I did get the connection back really quickly, though! (Please note, I am not laughing at you, tjwaido, but rather at the absurdity of this whole situation.)

Same problem here. Both bluetooth keyboard and mouse jitters and slows down. Turn off/On fixes problem for a while. Have not had this problem before I got the latest firmware-update for cinema 27".

Will try safe-boot - restart. Very annoying. Luckily only happens a few times a day. But everytime you need to open macbook and turn bluetooth off/on, and then close - this messes up all the windows.

I've given up trying all these methods. It may or may not be a software issue, and if it is, who knows when Apple will ever acknowledge the issue and/or fix it. Like others here, I have a 2009 MP and my issue started after Mountain Lion.

I've resorted to disconnecting the internal antenna and attaching a makeshift external antenna as documented here: http://nobblynoel.wordpress.com/2010/04/25/mac-pro-2009-bluetooth-fix/

The best reason to go this route rather than using a BT dongle is compatibility with the system/OS. Here's a link to that fix, which I tried and waking from sleep was an issue: http://oliverwolfson.com/apple-mac-pro-bluetooth-issue-solved/

The external fix took about 20 minutes and seems to have solved the weak signal. The parts are all available through Amazon...
