launchpad graphic problem in Intel HD 4000 mode

Hi,

When I open folders and close them in launchpad I get some graphic glitches or artifacts on top of the screen. There is a screenshot for better understanding.

Details: It doesn't happen when I change the graphic card from Intel to Nvidia. It only happens on Intel. I have MBP retina display and installed Mountain Lion. I don't think it was before on Lion but not sure.

Thanks

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

I found out this problem with my Macbook Pro Retina yesterday. With Intel HD4000, this problem will appear once in a while, but with the 650M,this problem never shows up. I wish this problem would be fixed in next updata. Because the patch - ML10.8.2 didn't fixed it. This problem seems to be a problem only for Retina Macbook Pro users, but it is still a problem.

Hi guys,

I created this thread and haven't found anything yet.

I thought it's a driver issue at first but 10.8.1 came out and did nothing so as 10.8.2! You switch the Graphic Card like I said at the very beginning to Nvidia and it's gone. Or you can just change the background by control+option+command+B and the problem is solved.

But the real problem is still there and just because it's not that much noticeable like a black-screen at start up or burn-in display or etc. it's hard to say how many people out there are facing the same problem.

But I just want you to know that I've tested every MBPR in every Apple store in Malaysia and they all have the same problem!!! You can do this test by your own. Just find a folder in launchpad and try to open and close it for few times.

I hope that it's not a hardware issue with Intel HD Graphic card and Apple is not aware of this problem yet.

UPDATE: I forgot to say that there is nothing wrong with my graphic what so ever except this. I have problems in scrolling sometimes in Safari but nothing else. And I've done Hardware test for few times and nothing is wrong with anything. So if you guys have some serious problem rather than launchpad set an appointment with Genius bar.

UPDATE2: here is what exactly happens everytime that I open a folder in launchpad:

The shortcut was changed to control-option-command-B on Mountain Lion.

You can change the background style permanently with for example

defaults write com.apple.dock springboard-background-filter -int 3; killall Dock
.

  • 0: no blur
  • 1: large radius blur (default)
  • 2: monochrome, no blur
  • 3: monochrome, large radius blur
  • 4: small radius blur

You can also change the blur radius.

defaults write com.apple.dock springboard-blur-radius -float 200
would set it to 200 pixels when not using a HiDPI mode.

Thanks for a work around.

But it's a workaround and no matter how permanent is that it's still a workaround. They should really fix this ASAP! It's useless enough without any bugs.

Since last update, I left the folder open and leave the launchpad and when I back after while there is no icon in the folder!! I've seen such a thing in an old Mac machines but not on a high-end machine that they've ever built!

Hope they not only fix these glitches and annoying graphic bugs but also make a cooler and more use able.
