iPhone calendar entries not synced with MacBook calendar

I use my iPhone 4S calendar as my primary calendar for entering or modifying events for the simple reason that it's with me most, if not all the time.

But after upgrading my MacBook Air to Mountain Lion last week, calendar entries entered or modified on my iPhone no longer synchronize with the calendar on my MacBook Air. As such, I have to manually make the entries or modifications on my MacBook Air so that the calendar will be updated when I synchronize it with my iPad. Am not using iCloud, so the calendar on my MacBook is a local calendar (On My Mac).

Any thoughts on why this is happening and what can I do to fix this?

Have thrown away a few hours on this identical problem today. Timing coincides with mountain lion upgrade exactly. have noticed contacts have no issues. have removed all calendars, brought them back...nothing. i changed the name of the calendar i was trying to sync (changed it on the iphone via settings). this change did change the calendar name in the iTunes software (where you indicate which calendars you want to sync with) but not Calendar software itself. So it is not a 'checkbox' issue (picking the wrong calendar to sync) nor is it an iCloud issue (as i'm only syncing with the local macbook air).

Not being able to use my calendar is a major issue.

nope, soz, made no difference. Sync was woprking fine until a couple of weeks ago, didn't change anything, stopped working. I don't want to delete one calander and start again as I have made changes to both and cannot afford to spend the time checking one against another manually. Yet another case of Apple leting its customers down and doing nothing to help.

I have hit the same problem again, iTunes kindly offered to delete all my calendar entries, I once again need to manually sync. This is a right pain, I can give Apple the benefit of the doubt a few times and patiently suffer this, as they do a superb job itherwise.

But no more, I am now going to check out alternative Calendar apps.

I am using OS 10.9.3 on my Mac and latest iOS on my iPhone. I have set up both on iCloud. The resulting sync of Calendar is incomplete. It syncs the items with a time, e.g. Dentist 3 pm but it does not sync an item that does not have a time, e.g. David's birthday. Is there any way to make it sync all items?

Help will be much appreciated.

I have been an Apple user for 35 years and I think the product is on a real down swing. Apple use to be known for its easy of use. More and more they are making it an un-usable product through restrictive re-engerning. I am beyond frustrated. It is ludicrous that I can't sync my calendar from my iPhone 5s through a cable to my macbook computer, are you kidding me, with out signing up for your data snooping iCloud application. Come on!!!! Why should I have to send my personal data to your servers?
