iWeb Slideshow Modification

It appears that the iWeb slideshow does need to be modified if you created it with the latest version (3.0.4) of iWeb.

Or revert back to iWeb 3.0.3. However, I don't know what features 3.0.4 has over 3.0.3. All it says is that it fixes a number of minor issues. That's a lot of help.

Just a note on this modification: if the url includes the domain name then the slideshow control icons will display on those sites published to a locat folder (assuming you're connected to the internet).

The plain /slideshow/ modification will not display in sites published to a folder on your hard drive.

Both work fine when published to the server.

The Media folder in your published files - not the iWeb package!

The one in the iWeb package is in the Resources folder so change it just the same way as you did the JS file to make things permanent.

All this does is to show the controls background image which is missing in OT's version...

Who needs it?

Roddy...sorry to be a dope, but where are my published files? And after I find and change them (SAVE), do I have to do anything else?

Didn't understand this:

"The Media folder in your published files - not the iWeb package!

Control click the iWeb.app and choose to show the package contents

Open the Resources folder and find the iWPopUpSlideshow.css

Open this in editor and look for the three URLs to images - one to the controls image and two to the spacer.

Change these and save. You may need to give yourself permission to do this by opening the CSS file in the Info window.

Roddy, one last question. Unlike the JS file, when I deleted the www.me.com stuff in CSS file, the links were no longer hot...see below...is that OK?

#controls {

position: absolute;

top: 0px;

z-index: 250;

width: 176px;

height: 77px;

background: url(/slideshow/images/controls.png) center center no-repeat;

opacity: .80;

}

#controlZone {

position: absolute;

z-index: 250;

width: 100%;

height: 177px;

text-align:left;

left: 0px;

background: url(/i/ma/1/spacer.gif) repeat;

#thumbnailZone {

position: absolute;

top:0px;

left: 0px;

z-index: 250;

background: url(/i/ma/1/spacer.gif) repeat;

It worked like a dream for me. Of course I hope you totally uploaded your entire site after updating iWeb then cleared Safari's cache and reload newly uploaded page. Note also there are several places that need the URL fix.

I placed the files on one of my web sites that I can use to point any other web site to.

Thanks to Toad for this very simple and effortless fix that only ever needs to be done once and works on all sites from now on (or as I said, are re uploaded).

Anyone with problems is doing something wrong or can't follow instructions.
