2012 Retina Macbook Pro WiFi problem

I have done the update and not seen the issue return; however, I had previously only seen the problem twice on my personal laptop.

Can anyone confirm success with the latest patch for WiFi? It seems like many of you were having issues at home on WPA personal networks. I had issues on a secured, WPA2 Professional network, as well as an untested, open wireless network, and I am curious if the problems are the same. I have never lost connection on any personal wifi network and have used one extensively at home.

I will keep things updated into January, but as of right now, I cannot reproduce the issue.

I've done all the troubleshooting on my user's laptop at the university, reloaded the OS, and all of the fixes listed herein, to no avail. So, it does appear that this problem is specific to Retinas. Any of you who have any information about this, please provide.

I too have been suffering with this terrible issue on my retina MacBook Pro 15" on OS X 10.8.2. It has been driving me nuts. At times pages won't load and Safari just sits there. Other times the WiFi indicator in the menu bar says I have no internet with the exclamation mark when I am clearly connected. Sometimes it just refuses to connect to the WiFi network. It's extremely annoying and I have to reboot to get it to work again. Even then, rebooting sometimes does nothing to solve the problem.

My wifi shows full bars and connected, but after i loaded 2 or 3 pages becomes inactive, turning the wifi on and off seems to solve the problem for another 2 or 3 pages... After 5 minutes of internet surfing all you want to do, is to through this junk out of the window and the only reason I haven't yet is the big hole left in by bank account.

First I had a problem with the black screen that didn't allow me to log in 8 out of 10 times, now I have to use my iphone or my girlfriends 6 years old laptop running ubanto to access Internet. We have 2 smart phones and 3 laptops including the mbpr, none of them but the mbpr shows issues regarding the wifi and although i've been fooling myself for the past 6 months, this has to be the worse laptop I have ever own. Sure the screen is outstanding, and working with stills and video is a joy, but if most of the times you are frustrated with its problems you can never really enjoy it.

i have exactly the same problem with my MacBook Pro Mid 2012 OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2. i have been waiting for apple to fix this and it's both frustrating and annoying since it affects work output and productivity.

Same problem here: OS 10.8.2 on a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 MacBook Pro Retina, 2012, surfing the internet is a major pain, at least the MacBook "remembers" my Wifi Network at the moment, some days ago it didn't want to connect to my Wifi-Box. That's a real shame Apple! I have been using Apple products for more than 18 years ... and this is really annoying! (ah, I forgot: my iPhone 4, iPad 1 and 3 and any other Windows Computer is online without ANY problems!)

I also have this issue and would like it resolved. My post is directed to Apple. I learned in 1978 a law of technology that still holds true today, " Software eventually works and Hardware eventually breaks". Software issues like this one can be elusive but what is extermely helpful in resolving software issues is ACKNOWLEDGE there is an issue and you are working on it. Then FIX it. That is the "eventually" part. Don't let your software engineering fall into the Microsoft mentality of 80% is good enough. WIFI is now THE primary connection for your customers. It is not a passing issue to research. Get on with it…….

Considering how long these MBP's have been on the market and how many people have experienced (and reported) the issue, its more and more likely to be a hardware issue, which of course means that Apple will never openly admit the problem exists and risk a recall. Which is sad.

I really hope its not a hardware issue on my shiny very expensive laptop. I have got UK BT Infinity (Fibre) using BT Hub 3, tried a lot of things, even at 40mhz on 2.4ghz range, dont get the drops anywhere, but lots of long pings over wifi to router, and sporadic speed tests over wifi, which used to yeild brilliant results on my 3 year old mac book unibody, it actually perfomed better than this mac book pro. Very very dissapointed. Tried to run onlive gaming on this shiny new mac book pro and kept telling me my bandwidth was useless where my base download speed is 60mb/s and 15mb/s up, tried so many settings on the routers. I have ordered a 5ghz module for it made by buffalo really hope this sorts it out, or apple sort it out.

I have a nice looking sexy "blonde" laptop that will not even connect to the internet properly, I want to return this thing back.

Very slow browsing..Wifi keeps failing..very frustrating. Its my first Mac (and I think it wiil be my last)

I there any hope that there will be a real fix to this problem?

Speed test via wifi is back up to consitent levels, promising so far. Long may it continue BUT Apple still needs to fix this, as this only really temporary fixes it at my house.

Apple Europe have been in touch and acknoweledged my dissapointment on this, it's being looked at but in no way they gave further details than that. Hope there is a permie fix for all soon.

Wow. Same problem here as well. Every other device works on my network except my Macbook Pro. When I switched and connected using my iPhone as a hotspot, the problem disappeared. I bought this thing to use for travel so this is definitely not acceptable. The odd thing is that it just started happening. I've had the Macbook for 6 weeks and it was fine.

Just started noticing this today. If I use iPhone tethering via USB, there's no problem. It's just wifi that's causing problems. C'mon Apple, I need this to work!

I have the same exact problem! Im actually writing this from my ipad since my MBP retina wont see my network. This has been going on for weeks and the most frustrating thing is as always apple just ignores you! I spent well over 3000 dollars on this thing and feel like ive been f**ked by apple again! No one will give an answer, and the best apple can do is tell you that its your router and not the computer. Everything else works, my other notebook, my ipad, phone, etc. *** apple?! Oh wait i forgot you already have our money.

I had to spend £50 (GBP) buying a 5ghz bridge and the problem has gone away at home, not ideal if I want to use the laptop away from home the problem reoccrus on some routers, and i cant replace their routers.

Lets hope they will sneak in a fix to 10.8.3
