Mail suddenly stopped retrieving from my email provider...

Upgraded to Moutain Lion a week ago. So I do not know if this is a ML issue. But figured it was a place to start.

My email is hosted through Network Solutions and has performed flawlessly for 7 years.

Yesterday - Apple Mail 6.0 stopped receiving emails. I would get intermittant offline signals - would open the Connection Doctor and it would be red/off/or green.

I double checked my Network Solutions account and saw the unreceived emails sitting there. So I haven't lost any.

Apple Mail now shows green lights "connected to tthe internet".

But I am not getting any test emails I send to myself or have friends send to me. Meaning - they are not downloading to my Apple email client. They are still sitting at Network Solutions.

My cable provider - who has also worked flawlessly for the two years I have had them (I work from home) is Charter Internet. I don;t know what, if any, effect they may have on things. Right now just can;t seem to get email to talk to email provider.

Abd the ONLY thing that has changed at all is the OS. So I figured I'd start there.

Any help is appreciated.

I have 3 macs running Lion, NONE are downloading Network Solutions email (but will send). Same difficulties contacing NS (so no help there yet), but in light of this being repeated across multiple computers at different locations (and with 2 different ISP's) it appears at least as of right now this is an NS problem or at least an NS problem unique to osx and/or osx Lion, and not an issue with the mailbox/account settings and/or corrupted inbox.

FYI also tried turning off Icloud email and note syncing on one computer to see if it cleared up the issue, no such luck.

I had a problem a ways back with my NS email ceasing to work (snow leopard), the NS tech "refreshed" my email and it cleared up the problem. To my knowledge (limited as it no doubt is) there is no way to do this on the user end and requires NS tech support. If anybody is able to get through to this "top notch" hosting provider and has any luck with this approach (or any other) (or knows how to do it from the webmail or account manager settings for NS) and wouldn't mind sharing it would be greatly appreciated (seeing as how the odds of actually getting through are slim to none for most).

Thanks!

Same problem. Same IP Netsolution. Only one account has the problem. I can use other mail clients to retrieve for now but would like to go back to Apple Mail. By the way I have not yet upgraded to Mountain Lion.

Can retrive mail using the NS webmail application.

Still running 10.7.4. The problem is the same on both my iMac and MacBook Pro.

I'm at a loss, two different imac desktops and a macbook, two different isp's and not networked in any way (aside from Icloud without back to my mac enabled) none are fetching NS email but all will send, my android phone fetches just fine and as others have noted the NS webmail works. I know you mentioned that one of the macs at the office was not having problems, not sure if that's the same one that ran for you when you got home, but is it possible you have different settings for the account on that one (i.e. different port, ssl, whatever)? If so and you can figure out what the setting is that's working for you I'm thankful for any advice, using the phone and/or webmail interface gets me by but is very clunky and not a realistic solution for very long.

Thanks!

I'm also having the same problem too but my email provider is Microsoft (Office 365). ML Mac Mail client won't download any emails from May 2012 onwards and Outlook 2011 has stopped downloading mail since 3 days ago.

I get mail fine on my iPad and Android devices.

I'msearching for my Lion installer disc and will revert back..... mountain Lion is not really fit for use in my honest opinion. It has some nice features but I feel let down by Apple at the moment. It's just one problem after the other with their software and hardware.

Same problem as above. No emails all day. I'm running OSX 10.6.8 so a software update is not the problem.

Finally, . . . FINALLY, got thru to NS. They refreshed both boxes, and everything downloaded to my Mac maillbox.

This is clearly a NL problem, and they are in the weeds. Be prepared to be on hold for better than 30 minutes, but apparently the fix is relatively simple.

Possible solution:

I've experienced all of the symptoms listed by other posts. Apple support was fantastic--though we couldn't find a solution. NS won't answer the phone.

After reinstalling OS X, reentering all of my NS data and etc, I simply logged onto NS website, began sending and deleting emails and all of a sudden everything downloaded to my mac mail program. I've been sending and receiving via mac mail since then as if nothing had happened.

This may be a one off solution, but I recommend giving it a shot. After hours of beating my head against the wall, this simple activity solved my problem.
