"Your account is temporarily unavailable."

I just ran into this problem whilst trying to update a bunch of iPhone apps in iTunes on my MacBook Pro. Multiple searches both here and on the general Internet turn up multiple cases and possible solutions. What I'd like to know before I contact spport and wait for a response is if anyone else is experiencing this problem or if it is just somehow isolated to me.

I managed to update Evernote, but after that any app I click on displays...

"Your account is temporarily unavailable.

The Store is unable to access your account information. You may continue to browse the Store. Please try again in a few minutes."

I've logged out and back in successfully and I can see my account information fine, so I wonder why "The Store" is unable to access it.

So... are other people seeing this error today (August 8th, 2012 at around 5:00PM PST)? If so, take comfort in knowing there are others (like me) out there in the same boat. If not, panic will begin to set in my frail yet masculine body.

Thanks for reading.

Not only am I getting the ACCOUNT TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE error message, but also the in-store credit balance says I only have $10.00. Wrong. There should be roughly 20 x that amount. ***. Will I be required to prove my transfer of $400 from an AMEX REWARD PROGRAM ... And the showing my purchases since then. Thank God, I saved all iTunes e-mails and have access to iTunes Purchases from within the iTunes store.

I have brought some of these issues up to apple support...

here is what I have discovered...

Most of the problems are occurring on computers using the itunes application, not on the idevices...

If I download one update, or updates individually it works. However, if I use the Download all Updates button, I get the same error message everyone else seems to be getting "temporarily unavailable". If I then go back to individual downloads... same message as before. If I now wait a few hours, individual downloads or purchases will work again.

I also found that itunes match does not seem to want to work although previous sessions of itunes match can still be accessed via my iphone and ipad.

I believe Apple is investigating this and it goes beyond the security issues caused by earlier hacks.

Thanks for all the input. Was wondering if I fat-fingered my password too many times as I happen to have some BIG Jimmy Deans. LOL Seriously, was wondering why I coulldn't update apps on my MAC. This forum helped me find out why. Thanks to ALL you have made comments. Will just wait it out. Shout out to all those in the UK...three years spent there in Cambridge.....loved every minute of it!!

I had to reset my Apple ID password in order to be able to make this post. I was using Itunes and my account became unavailable while I was trying to update my phone, My wife has a separate account that is available, so it is not an internet connection problem. What's going on Apple?

I was able to update an app directly from my iPhone and iPad, but I am unable to add songs to mt new macbook pro.

Okay... iTunes just crashed on my pc while trying to sync my iPod Touch. The only way to update my iPhone or iPad(it failed AGAIN) was to download the apps to my iPod Touch first, transfer "purchases" to my pc, then sync the other devices. But iTunes crashed during the sync. Trying again now.

Worked with the iPod Touch.

Worked with the iPad 2.

Worked with the iPhone!

It's convoluted, but it's a good temporary solution. As long as you don't want to buy any iPad apps...

Ok, I also had this problem for several days on my home Mac Pro running 10.8.

However, I could make purchases and download updates on my work machine (also 10.8) and on my iOS devices.

Looking at my account details on the home machine I tried to make changes to some details and got an error message that said something to the effect that my changes could not be saved as my account had been modified by something else in that period.

So I restarted my Mac - something that rarely happens - and everything works, problem gone.

Just out of interest has anyone else done this?

Also wondering if when in iTunes, logging out of my iTunes store account and back could have fixed it. Anyone tried this?

I'm running iTunes on a pc with Windows Vista Ultimate. I did try the restart, to no avail. I did restarts on all of my iDevices with no luck. Now they seem to work, except that I keep getting Apple ID Password prompts at random intervals while using my iPhone. It doesn't matter what I'm doing, it just keeps happening.

I'm trying a sync now. Hopefully that will solve the issue.
