I've been trying to get this issue fixed on my iPhone 6 almost all day. I never use headphones and my phone has never had any water or physical damage. I tried SO MANY things and what finally worked for me was this.. HOLD DOWN THE VOLUME UP AND DOWN BUTTONS AT THE SAME TIME, WHILE STILL HOLDING THESE DO A HARD RESET. SO ALL THE STEPS YOU WILL DO AT THE SAME TIME ARE HOLD DOWN THE VOLUME UP AND DOWN BUTTONS WHILE HOLDING DOWN THE HOME BUTTON AS WELL AS THE BUTTON ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR PHONE. ONCE YOU SEE THE WHITE SCREEN WITH THE APPLE YOU CAN LET GO OF ALL BUTTONS. THIS SHOULD FIX THE ISSUE! I really hope this saves someone a lot of the hassle I've been through!!
Wow! IT WORKED!
My iPhone 6s did the same thing last night and I was freaking out. First it didn't work and I was very disappointed, but then I decided to give it another try and it worked like magic. Thank you very much.
Thanks a lot. Saved my day.. Cheers! 😀
The 'folded paper clip' method worked for me too when the cue tips and rolled up tissue failed. I didn't have a paper clip so I used a metal BBQ skewer instead. It took and bit of work and I was worried I was causing damage to the jack sticking and prying the skewer around but it eventually worked and there was no damage done. Thanks!
I tried the paperclip, the Q-tip and the sucking on the port directly. After reading this, I tried again and sucked harder (laughing to myself at how that would sound if I actually said it), and yup...worked. Just Suck!!! It's the only way...

Ok, when I read this I laughed. Then I tried it and laughed my *ss off at myself for "falling for it". Then I realized I didn't form a good seal when trying it. Then I tried again, AND IT WORKED! I laughed so freaking hard! It sounds ridiculous and I felt like a dork doing it but it really worked!
edited to add: This is regards to this advice:
"This happened to me. I read on another site that if you suck really hard on the headphone port it would fix it. I tried it, and it worked instantly!" by KBlomquist
This worked for me as well, I tried the paper clip and other options listed but the Q-tip worked. Mind you I did it after the tissue rolled up and the paper clip. I also tried to connect to a bluetooth speaker option to no avail.
The paper clip bent in half saved my life, only thing that worked
Paper Clip rocks.!
ive woken up and gone to listen to music to find out that no sound is coming out but when I plug my headphones in it works , when I take them out it still thinks that they are there... I've tried to paper clip and cotton bud but neither have worked. Don't know if I'm doing it wrong or what but can anyone help?
Thanks a lot for the QTip tip!
Awesome! Thank you! This worked for me. Saved me a week wait for an appointment, countless hours sitting in the store on a Saturday night.I feel like i owe you something!
I tried the headphones in and out, I tried the paperclip with tissue, and by itself and nothing worked. I then sucked as hard as I could with my mouth over the headphone jack and the problem was solved! Thanks for everyone's input on here! LOTS of money saved.
Just reading through all these posts and trying what I can when I saw yours and gave it a shot. Sure enough I click the volume buttons and it's changed from Headphones to Ringer!
Thanks for the tip!
was desperate, had the same problem!! paperclip really worked, fondled around in the jack and then in and un plugged headphones a couple of times - and yes it worked!!!!! thanks!:))) saved me from a mental breakdown.
i had the same problem and tried many of these tips but i finally got fed up after resetting several times and cleaning my headphone jack but after i flipped my ringer on and off it started working no problem
Compressed air did the trick! I tried twice before to reset the phone and that did nothing. I never would have thought it was a physical problem since the headphones still worked.
