How can I see my iCloud content online?

I have synced my Pictures library on my PC to the iCloud PhotoStream. Is there a way to see all my iCloud content in a web interface, like it's allowed by all other cloud services (such as Skydrive, Google Drive, SugarSync, Dropbox)? It's surprising to find that iCloud doesn't provide this simple feature that every other cloud service does.

Someone in this discussion suggested that if you like Skydrive, just use that. Now, if people defending the messy aspects of iCloud are just Apple fans and happy iCloud users, that's fine. But if they are Apple employees, that scares me. If you keep saying this for each of your products, people really will end up using the alternatives in due time. These are valid criticisms of iCloud. You can either accept to learn from them or your wish of everyone transferring to Skydrive (or others) will soon be granted.

iCloud, as its name suggests, should provide some traditionally understood "cloud" services where you sync some stuff online and then see/share/organize that content online when your synced devices are not handy. Every single one of the other popular "cloud" service does that. If iCloud is so entirely different from all of the other services, then you should probably come up with a different description and better educate us. What's next, there will be an iWatch that doesn't tell time?

Here is the bottom line, since I last posted this, I am now a complete Mac user and because of the enigmas of iCloud, I am still dependent on Dropbox+SugarSync.

Shared photo streams would be a way to do it. It can then be viewed in a web browser, and downloaded from there. The address to go to is shown while creating the shared photo stream.

Thought this sounded promising but just tried it on my iPhone. Everything happened like the instructions said until I clicked on the link that I had emailed myself.

That took me to a webpage with my name and the title of the shared stream at the top but underneath just a black background with a grey cloud and the words "No Shared Photos". There should be 53 of them. I did make it a Public Website.

Anyone else getting this to work?

pathakam - well put.

I've been a Mac user for years and am becoming more and more annoyed with Apple's attitude toward it's users. They made promises around MobileMe and never delivered and then took away the functionality offered by MobileMe although a commitment never to remove functionality was made. iCloud is a joke next to many other cloud services, the ability to manage and share photos and files is horribly flawed and that's being really, really kind. A lot of iCloud works but the user cannot manage nor configure how iCloud works for them.

Skydrive gave me 25 gigs and I'm going to start using it in a big way which is kind of sad. I'm not an Apple fanboy but I'm not far from it either. The continual dumbing down of OS X and the inflexibility of iOS are grating. Add the fact that my four Macs and Macbooks have given me six waranty claims (logic board, monitor, top case, case, video controller, and I forget the other) I must be a sucker for punishment. OS X is still light years beyond Windows and the eco-system is a big plus (even with iCloud). (Oddly enough the Mac I built is the only one that never failed.) Apple please make the 17" Macbook again - not everyone sits in a coffee shop surfing social media. It is/was a workhorse.

I agree.....pathakam and cypressdrive.....

When you think about having your information on a cloud most people think it will be easily accessible (that's the whole point). I bought the Iphone set up the iCloud and set up a folder for my pictures to keep it organized. The day I accidentlly delete pictures from my camara roll because I thought they had been saved to a second file I find out that's not how "organizing files" work. To top it off I turned on "My Photo Stream" when I first set up the iCloud, but my pictures are no where to be found. I guess it just doesn't work how people would expect it to work.

Although I have to say I do like the new updated software not sure how well it works, but I like the way it looks....reminds me of my Android 🙂

DEVICE INDEPENDENT CLOUD ACCESS

Answer: Google+ facilitates automatic uploading of photos from any mobile device to the Google cloud. Google's cloud is Device Independent and can be accessed by any browser on an: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android or Windows.

Pathakam's summary of the issue is persusive and eloquent. Our own Mac based Architecture office has been using the cloud since 2008. The pros of the Mac and iOS continually ourtweigh the cons by a comfortable margin. Unfortunately, for our pruposes, iCloud is not one of our stronger assetts.

Tony, the left side of my iPhoto only lists "Library, Recent, and Albums" I am using iPhoto '11 version 9.4.3

I am trying to access photos taken on my iPad while in iPhoto and eventually, iMovie. Even when I connect the iPAD to the iMAC via a USB cable, it doesn't show a "Device". Cameras and my iPhone show up as devices, but not the iPAD2. Any thoughts?

I agree, I have almost finish my current Icloud storage (5GB) in photos and videos, I was almost ready to buy additional space. Then for the first time I wanted to see the pictures on my computer through Icloud. Big surprise!.. I can't!. At the beginning i thought i had something wrong configured, finally after looking on the internet I was amazed with the answers. There is no simple way to do that, and no logical reason. .. I am tired of MAC fans saying things like: "that is not the purpose of ICloud, you should read more", "check-out photo stream.. your photos are available for 30 days", "select and publish, " go to skydrive for that".

So finally these are the facts:

I take pictures with my Iphone - good

Pictures are uploaded to Icloud without me noticing - great

ICloud stores my pictures and videos - excelent

ICloud does not has a web interfase for accesing them- ***!!!!!???? any logical answer please?

any MAC Employees..

¿What is the real reason for that? There should be a business reason I am not understanding, because technically I know there is no issue for accessing web pictures of a cloud storage.

HELP.. I too wonder... How do I view my iCloud content?

Are you saying that the only things that are backed up on my iCloud are only the same things I currently have access to on my camera roll, shared photos in photo stream & apps?

If this is the case, why would I purchase more iCloud space than my iphone or ipad allows?

I was always under the impression that I could delete things off my iPad or iPhone because they would be secure & accessible on my iCloud?

I guess another question I have would be:

Is iCloud actually a storage?

How can I see my iCloud content online?
