Notes Disappearing!!

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I have had a recurring problem with Notes disappearing. I use Notes on both my iPhone and my Mac (Google Apps, not iCould) for work. Many of my (new) notes disappear from both devices within a couple days of me writing them.

I too am having issues with notes- I only noticed at the weekend that my most important one of all had vanished-no worries I thought-it will sync to my Ipad -alas no-the note on there hadnt been updated since 2012, so to icloud-surely my back up is there- again no- in fact on there there are only my most recent notes from the last month or so.

I was using icloud and streaming etc thinking all my data was safe if anything happened!!!

Any ideas?

My notes disappeared in Oct and all notes taken during a conference Nov 6- Nov 8. I followed the previous advice to go into Settings and opened Mail, Countacts, and Calendars to see if the "mail" account was on. It was on and it noted the default account. Second, I clicked the "notes" tab in Settings and to see that the defaut account was checked.

However, the notes were no longer being backed up in the default account, but on to another email account which I also use regularly on the IPAD. So, my advice is to check all email accounts that belong to you or others you have used the IPAD to check emails. CRAZY, but it worked. GOOD LUCK.

This just isn't acceptable. I want any notes i make to remain in "Notes", not have them moved to an email account. I want to access them on my ipad when offline. Why is it that computer manufacturers and software writers continue to force on us actions we neither want nor are useful? I thought Apple were better than this but they seem as bad as Microsoft!

OK thanks but, I went to iCloud>Notes, found it OFF, turned it ON and got the following pop up message,

"Turn On Notes - create a free @me.com email address to turn on Notes. <Cancel><Create>"

So what please are the implications here? What's it going to give me, or what's it going to do to me? I hate surprises.

I use Yahoo! Mail (unfortunately still since their new system debacle) and will continue for a while. My mail from Yahoo! is automatically visible in my iPad mail, magically somehow, which is OK.

So, what is an @me.com email address going to do for me or the planet?

Will it be NICE THINGS or will it be UNNECCESARY THINGS.

I wish Mr Apple would answer these questions instead of you fellas having to do the hard work with the answers.

My default account is iCloud.

I don't find any Notes folder in Mail, neither in iCloud section, nor gmail,… Not on the iPhone, not on the Mac.

Besides the disappearing notes, I've got a minor problem of duplicating notes. While writing in an existing note, it gets duplicated: sometimes I wind up with four or five identical notes (the same titel but with more recent content each time).

Seeing this long discussion thread I think I'll just throw this app in my mental dustbin, and use something like Evernote in its place.

Besides the bug of notes disappearing, I don't understand why it has to be so difficult to retrieve deleted notes (with time machine for example). I used the Terminal code someone proposed in a former post, but it just gave an incomplete chaos of text… Non-techno users shouldn't be forced to use Terminal to solve simple things like retrieving a disappeared or deleted note: isn't that ought to be the Apple philosophy?

I also had this problem on my iPad 2 and got so crazy. A lot of notes disappeared leaving me with only 3.

However, my iPad2 was stolen, then I got iPad4. Surprisingly, when I checked the note app, I found my 3 notes left on my previous iPad2. My new note on the iPad4 also disappeared.

But this is what I just found out -

- Log in to your email from your browser (the email you configured with your iPad)

- when you can view your emails, click the TOP LEFT CORNER icon (that has 3 lines)

- A sub - menu will come out

- Scroll down, you will see NOTES on the menu

- Click the notes, and you will find ALL your notes there.

NB- I don't know why apple can't solve this problem but there is another option.

Download another Note app from App Store, use it and you will be ok.

Hope this helps.
