HI. I am new to Apple, so please try to understand.

I just purchased the IMAC 26". I am very impressed with it after using Windows for many years. I am looking for an AOL browser that I can install on my IMAC. Does anyone have any suggestions or have you had any luck with with a version of AOL that you could recomend me to install.

Thanks All

According to the download page,

AOL Desktop for Mac runs natively on your PowerPC or Intel-based Mac. The new AOL application runs at full speed on any Mac that supports Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4.8 or higher) or Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5.3 or higher).

Whether or not it'll run on SL, Lion, or ML, is anyone's guess, but it doesn't look like it's been updated in years. AFAIK, it's not needed.

Then your best option is to call AOL and ask them if it will run on your machine. None of us here use it, so all we can go by is what we find in the tech articles.

I will say that I'm still running some software on my almost new Mac that is 9 years old. It's a case of the older software doing things that the upgrade won't. I need those functions, so I stick with the old software. It works. Not as well as it did when coupled with the OS it was designed for, but it works in a 97% range and I accept a few hassles to keep it going.

If AOL Desktop has not been upgraded to run with Mountain Lion, you might find a similar experience. It might work ok anyway. But I haven't used AOL since 1996, and I never used AOL Desktop, so no promises from me! Again, call them and see what they say. It's their product.

HI ALL.

I think i'll just go to AOL.com to get my email etc, and not install the AOL Desktop. I have a few browsers that I use but I have all my contacts for email so I'll just go to AOL.com to get my email etc.

I want to thank everyone for addressing my question and taking the time to respond. Now, since I am still on the NEW side with my IMAC and this being the first question that I have posted, what should I do or say to everyone that responded to my question.

Thanks again to all for your help.
