So 10.8.1 is out, but NO notification?

Hello all.

My Mac App Store is never launched unless I do so.

I thought when there is a major OS or software update, I will get a notification via Notification Centre?

My Software Update is set as in the picture attached.

Anyway, I have to launch Mac App Store to see the Mountain Lion update, after that, still no notifcation.

Is something "broken"?

Thanks

I was probably not exactly spot on with the Reminders suggestion. Had do to some research on it which was not easy. MAS is obviously built into the Notifications center - it´s just not customizable. They seem to just push the alert on us in a predefined way. I was notified with an alert which did not close until I did the update. Others did not, it seems.

I guess MAS may turn up in Notifications preferences at a later stage.

In Mountain Lion you have no option but to check for updates or not. The default software update is set to 7 days.

>SystemPreferences>System>SoftwareUpdate

You can manually change this via the terminal, ex below changes the frequency to one day,

copy and paste the following:

defaults write com.apple.SoftwareUpdate ScheduleFrequency 1

This changes the plist in the ~/Library/Preferences

It would be best to change the plist in /Library/Preferences as well :

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist ScheduleFrequency 1

So 10.8.1 is out, but NO notification?
