My iMessage will send texts but not pictures

My 4s just began acting up last evening. It was brought to my attention by a friend who I constantly imessage with. He was trying to send a pic to me and it kept showing delivered on his end, but I never got it. I then tried to send him a pic and it just shows sending and then message failure. i have tried all the above things as well. The only thing I havent done is the factory reset.

Any advice???

I've been having this issue as well. I send photos to a mate of mine overseas, and we use iMessage constantly. I have restarted my phone, reset my wifi connection, and done the factory restore. I am still having this issue from my phone. I have an iPad as well and it works perfectly fine through the iPad. What's up with the phones?!?

Edit: It only doesn't send when wifi is enabled. It sends without a problem when the wifi is disabled, but I like to have the wifi on seeing as I do not have an unlimited data plan and like to use apps that require data/wifi connection.

Same issue on an iPad here. My sister seeing the same thing. Can send pics from some, receive from others, and some are no pics coming or going. Way too many variables. Tried all the reset suggestions to be found on the Internet, but no happy. Almost has to be something at the servers. Not sure if I should try the full factory reset or wait for ios6.

So who has came up with a solution with this I message problem?

Same problem here... my iPhone 4s and iPad are not sending pictures while on Wi-Fi but on 4G everything is working fine😕 i don't understand what is happening.

I have been having the same issue for the last few days I turned off my wifi and now it's working. I'm gonna try to turn wifi back on and see what happens.

Ok so I tried it turning wifi back on and it wond send the pictures. I've tried it with another 4s also, same issue. Seems to be an issue with the software.

I've been having this issue for a while now too. I am using a pay-as-you-go SIM card and have only recently discovered that I'm being charged 50p per day from my supplier - Virgin - for internet access. They tell me that if I switch 'Cellular' on, I will immediately incur the 50p charge whether I go on the internet or not.

The interesting thing is - if I turn cellular off and am in a wifi area, the send button turns blue and I can send text messages without any trouble. If I try to send an image, the bar goes 95% way along then stops. Now if I have cellular ON the picture will go through eventually - but if I have it OFF then the bar goes along and stops and within about 20 seconds it changes to green and I get charged from my PAYG call credit. Now this part is infuriating because if I see the send button is blue, I take the liberty of sending a large text message, but if it is green, I know that I am going to be charged 12p for the first 160 characters and so I keep my message to the minimum (AND use short sms language to save space).

I have also discovered that the emoji characters are causing the same issues as a picture - so ':)' (without the quotation marks) is better than 🙂 because it won't go through on wifi - but it WILL go through with cellular ON.

Now I have to decide if I send enough texts in a day to warrant keeping cellular ON and hope that some unkown internet activity doesn't cause me to go over the 25MB limit. 😠

Has anyone determined cause & found a fix? My issue is the same as the original:

- tries to send image via iMessage but fails

- automatically resends as text

- wifi / data... No difference

- cleared out list of old messages (memory problem?)

- sign on, sign off, etc, etc, etc...

- whispered sweet nothing's to it

- bought a dozen roses & surprised it

- popped a plastic bag beside it trying to startle it

- have not held it up at gunpoint, but don't think I'm not tempted.

It really really annoys me as I don't have mms messaging and most of my friends have iMessage anyways so it's fine .. and now it's not working. Can someone please help?

Same thing here, happened only over last 24 hours. Pictures and videos will not send via iMessage whether mobile data only or wifi. Won't send to myself as a loop back test, or to someone else. They can't send to me either or to themselves.

Reset network settings, routers, and apart from wiping the phone, I've tried everything including changing dns server settings.

Is this widespread? Why does icloud status page say iMessage is all working if it isn't?

Nothing new this AM - All same for me as William. Also have been having issues downloading new apps & updates from App Store. Got a message to update to 6.1.3 last night - updated this AM - no change.

Sending tests to myself mostly produced same "sent via text" result, except for a single fluke photo last night.

Only thing I can think of rt now is that the credit card associated with my apple account just expired & am waiting on its replacement. Haven't checked to see if apple is trying to charge it for anything. Will check now and if there is any possible issue there I will report back, but I haven't gotten any sort of notice via email from apple.
