Ok. I've tried, but this is just not a feature I want. I can't get used to it and don't like it. I use reboot to get a clean slate, impossible when it reloads everything I rebooted to get rid of. In Snow Leapord I (after a lot of trying) got it licked, but the fix no longer seems to work in Mountain Lion.
How do I turn off this stupid "Feature?"

Your solution just works and, in my opinion, Auto Save and Versions are not features but dangerous bugs introduced in Mac OS X 10.7 and unfixed 10.8
They can't die fast enough.
It's funny sometimes how far you have to go to find the right answer. And sometimes it is simple. No terminal, no changing programming code. Just Shut down and "option-click when unchecking the "Reopen windows when logging back in" box." Thanks djxk you are an actual Apple Genius.
