I have used the term "may" on purpose.

Yes, Apple is responsible for many of the limits on streaming and how content can be used, but not all. Some of the limits they impose are driven by their licensing agreements with the content owners. Limits that are not detailed in any terms and conditions presented to the public.

If you contrast the limitations on the various licensed content you can purchase and rent from Apple, you can see this.

Audiobooks are different from Books, while music is different from TV shows, which may be different from Movies. Apps can be Family Share-able, or not.

I am not defending Apple. I am offering that there are other bogeymen in this issue. Apple at times is the messenger.

Yes, I did the same thing. And no, there is no way to quickly add to your computer to watch there.

Annoying, but in Apple's defence (when I jumped on live chat to try and resolve) the support worker said:

a) she would refund the amount to me so I could re-download to my computer at no extra charge

b) that the reason they don't permit downloads like movies to switch from mobile device to computer is because the original download would not be high enough resolution to play. If it was downloaded to a phone/iPad, then the quality would only be suited to that device.

Before speaking with an Apple support worker, I also tried to download AirServer to mirror my iPad. But, my computer would only initially mirror and then try and open the file in Quicktime. As soon as Quicktime opened, it denied access. But I guess again, the resolution would be cruddy.

Anyway, I'm happy with how it was resolved by Apple. Just takes a little longer.

I tried to rent a movie on my apple tv but for some reason it would not let me. I have watched movies before but for some reason it would not let me rent this one. So I tried to use my computer but it said it wasn't registered as a device. So figuring that iTunes was iTunes I rented it from my iPad. Now I find that I can't watch it on my apple TV. This is why Amazon is killing Apple on movie rentals as it is much easier to use. It is now 1 and a half hours since I tried to rent the movie. It is on my iPad but that is not worth watching a movie on. Guess I'll not try and rent another movie from apple any time soon.

I rented a movie on my ipad, how can I watch on my pc?
