AT&T Factory Unlock

I recently requested to have my iPhone 4 unlocked from AT&T. They approved my request. After receieving instructions on unlocking the phone (which I later found out came from Apple), I went through the steps, basically backing up and restoring the iPhone, and it still remained locked. I attempted the same instructions again and it still remained locked. I turned it off and on and that did nothing.

Can anyone help me here? Is there any other troubleshooting steps to unlocking my iPhone?

It's not related to firmware version, IMO.

Awesome! Thanks so much for filling me in. It was as easy as you said and now my phone is finally able to access the 3g network. I really appreciate your post it solved a huge problem in my life. Thank you.

Do you have to use a SIM card to unlock it? And if so can I use my AT&T one?

Yes, you will need any SIM card, if you use non-at&t use, just insert it and connect to iTunes.

If you use AT&T SIM, simply restore the iPhone through iTunes.
