I had to do a complete re-install of my system after a crash system from apple CD-ROM OS X10.4.5 and updated from download to OSx 10.4.11.

Prior to this Mail worked fine.

I use Mail 2.1.3 (753.1) live in Northen California

When I reopened the application Mail three problems happened:

- could not import info from the previously archived mail boxes on external drive

- could not create new mailbox in the application Mail, only Smartboxes

- could not send email (I can receive emails)

depending on my settings I get either the error message:

"message cannot be appended to the outbox "

and if I enter the settings server 465 use SSL in outgoing Mail server smtp.att.yahoo.com

and in advanced: port 995 use SSL and password authentification, I do not get a message error, but the email goes into the sent menu of the Mail application but the email is not actually sent

Hello,

I just created manually a folder named Mailboxes to see if it would work and it did !

So although I do not understand that part seems solved

But it is still a problem to send emails, they go into the sent box and I get the usual sound indicating it is gone, but the message does not go anywhere, or if it does I do not know where ! When I send a email to myself it does not appear in my inbox file ....

!?!? 😕

Thank you for all your help.

It was useful in many ways although it did not solved the problem I learned a lot from you ADAqua ...

At the end I also found a link to AT&T chat and they did solve the problem ... I had to give them permission to "go into" my computer ... but they fixed the problem without charging a fee as they do by phone ... so hopefully this will help others too.
