It is quite obvious that their priority for the past few days was the glorified iPhone 5 commercial occuring today...not fixing their broken equipment.

You stated; "trying to find the cause and the solution to this massive issue"

I think that is just the thing about this problem is that it is NOT massive. In fact it is only happening to a very small percentage of the iCloud users. If it were massive, it would be a lot easier to find the cause.

Same happening for me, but some personal emails are now randomly starting to show.  None are in the order of time.  Seems like the system is just overwhelmed and trying to catch up.

Apparently, This problem (iCloud mail system is down) was solved in this morning in Japan. Today, I will be tough to catch up with usual mode.

No the arrogance came after it happened.  It is totally illogical that this effected only 1.1 percent of the users.  It was a major system crash.  Users reported outages in Europe, Asia and the USA.  It effected people across the board.  It was not a communications node, or an isolated server farm.  It was a software problem.  Apple should have communicated and been honest.  This is the reason to run not walk away from Icloud.  It puts their entire future strategy in doubt and revenue.

Strangely enough, mail from the past 36 hours is beginning to come in… in reverse chronological order. This afternoon, this morning, last night... Don't give up hope yet, you may still get your missing emails.

Yes, it is coming in because they went back to the NAP Network Access Point where they are stored and retreived them and now they are reloading them.  This was a major crash.  My guess a software load went bad or they were hacked as in Project Auroa. Either way outages happen but Apple handled this in an arrogant manner by not communicating the problem.  This cast in doubt Apple's future revenue plans.

To no avail, regardless of changing settings, removing notifications, assigning as junk mail or applying rules, I am innundated with updates to this thread that I foolishly contributed to. At this rate, I will have to close my mail account.
