iBooks and Page Numbers (Real or Location?)

Dear Apple Friends,

I have a pretty candid and straightforward question about iBooks and I'm hoping some who have used it for a while can help me out here.

I normally use my Kindle for my e-books but have been finding some books on the iBook Store that I'd like to buy for my iPad. I e-mailed iTunes my questions and they cannot seem to give me a straight answer so I thought I would try here next.

  • Do e-books on the iBook Store (iBS) use static location numbers, or are they dynamic based on the page, text size, etc?
  • Are there "real page numbers," or page numbers that correspond with the print version of the book? (Kindle has this, I use it a lot for research stuff). I cannot find a mention of it anywhere on anything.
  • What sort of "return policy" does Apple provide on the iBS? Like I said, I cannot find a straight answer on this and iTunes Customer Support has not given me a straight answer. I'd just like to know if I buy an e-book and it has typos (this has happened a lot on Kindle) in it or the quality is just very poor, what are my options for returning the book?

Many thanks, in advance.

Have a look at iTunes > Books > Textbooks, there are some free and cheap ones there.

In case you are not already aware of it, books bought from the iBookstore cannot be read on a laptop or desktop, should you want to do that. This is no problem with Kindle (or Nook or Kobo or Googlebooks) stuff, for which there is an app for both iOS and OS X.
