NSURLErrorDomain error

i know theres new software for my mac but whenever i go into the mac app and check for new software this message comes up, what does it mean? and how do i fix it?

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)

LOTS of people are receiving this error (including myself). It probably has nothing to do with your computer at all but the fact that Apple's servers probably weren't prepared for the massive numbers of attemped updates. DNS fixes have been posted, but these don't work for me. Unfortunately, probably the best solution is either to wait or, if you're looking for the update to iTunes, go to: http://support.apple.com/downloads/ where you can find the latest software.
